Job description
CDM Smith is seeking a Lead Enterprise Architect to join our Corporate Business Technology team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and governing the firm's enterprise application architecture, ensuring alignment with our strategic IT direction through a Microsoft-centric, cloud-first approach. You will lead the development of architectural roadmaps, standards, and governance models grounded in
TOGAF principles, driving clear alignment between business capabilities and technology investments.
This individual will partner closely with business and technology stakeholders to deliver scalable, secure, and integrated solutions across the enterprise application portfolio. Leveraging platforms such as Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, Power Platform, and Copilot, you will define enterprise application strategy, establish architecture principles and governance frameworks, and align business capabilities, application portfolios, and IT roadmaps.
Additionally, you will utilize ServiceNow APM and Enterprise Architecture modules to manage application portfolios, lead rationalization efforts, and perform capability mapping. You will also evaluate emerging Microsoft and partner technologies to drive innovation, efficiency, and continuous improvement across the organization.
Architecture & Design

Develops enterprise architecture blueprints across business, application, data, and technology layers.

Designs integration patterns across enterprise systems leveraging Azure services (APIM, Logic Apps, etc.).

Defines reference architectures, reusable patterns, and solution guardrails.

Ensures alignment of solutions to enterprise standards, security, and scalability requirements.
Documentation & Governance

Documents architecture standards, roadmaps, and solution patterns.

Maintains architecture artifacts within ServiceNow EA/APM or equivalent tooling.

Establishes governance processes for architecture review boards (ARB) and solution approvals.

Provides oversight to ensure adherence to architectural standards (no direct code review responsibility).
Quality & Alignment

Ensure solutions align with enterprise architecture standards and target-state roadmaps.

Acts as a trusted advisor to delivery teams and stakeholders.

Identifies risks, dependencies, and integration challenges across platforms.

Drives continuous improvement of architecture maturity and practices.

Performs other duties as required., CDM Smith Inc. and its divisions and subsidiaries (hereafter collectively referred to as "CDM Smith") reserves the right to require background checks including criminal, employment, education, licensure, etc. as well as credit and motor vehicle when applicable for certain positions. In addition, CDM Smith may conduct drug testing for designated positions. Background checks are conducted after an offer of employment has been made in the United States. The timing of when background checks will be conducted on candidates for positions outside the United States will vary based on country statutory law but in no case, will the background check precede an interview. CDM Smith will conduct interviews of qualified individuals prior to requesting a criminal background check, and no job application submitted prior to such interview shall inquire into an applicant's criminal history. If this position is subject to a background check for any convictions related to its responsibilities and requirements, employment will be contingent upon successful completion of a background investigation including criminal history. Criminal history will not automatically disqualify a candidate. In addition, during employment individuals may be required by CDM Smith or a CDM Smith client to successfully complete additional background checks, including motor vehicle record as well as drug testing.
Requirements

Bachelor's Degree optional

8 years of related experience.
Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands. Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
Skills & Abilities

Demonstrated experience in enterprise architecture, application architecture, or related roles

Strong understanding and implementing of TOGAF or similar enterprise architecture frameworks

Deep expertise in Microsoft ecosystem including Azure (IaaS/PaaS, Integration Services); Microsoft 365, Power Platform and Copilot

Experience with Microsoft cloud platforms

Experience with ServiceNow APM / Enterprise Architecture module

Ability to translate business strategy into capability models and architecture roadmaps

Strong stakeholder engagement and executive communication skills

Expertise in integration architecture and cloud-native design patterns

Experience with application portfolio management and rationalization
