Job description

This Department of War enterprise data and analytics program delivers mission-critical capabilities that enable leaders across the Department to make faster, better-informed decisions using trusted data at scale. Leidos Digital Modernization sector is seeking an experienced Senior Data Architect to support the delivery, enhancement, and adoption of enterprise data and analytics products used across multiple DoD organizations.

In this role, you will work alongside government partners, engineers, and other industry teammates to translate operational and strategic requirements into scalable, production-ready solutions. You will contribute directly to product planning, execution, and continuous improvement-helping ensure capabilities are delivered efficiently, aligned to mission priorities, and positioned for sustained success.

This position offers the opportunity to work on a high-visibility, enterprise program at the intersection of data, analytics, and emerging AI technologies. Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement enterprise-level data strategies and architectures to enhance data acquisition and transformation.

  • Design and build data governance architecture, ensuring alignment with security and compliance requirements.

  • Communicate data architecture approaches effectively to stakeholders and ensure adoption across teams.

  • Lead the design, build, and maintenance of core data infrastructure and pipelines for the platform.

  • Ensure scalability, reliability, and security of the data platform through automated end-to-end data pipelines.

  • Implement data quality monitoring tools and processes to ensure data accuracy and consistency.

  • Optimize data infrastructure for performance and scalability, planning for future growth.

  • Document data pipelines, data models, and governance policies to ensure clarity and compliance.

  • Provide direct assistance to customers, addressing inquiries and resolving technical issues.

  • Monitor service level agreements (SLAs) and provide regular reports on performance.

  • Develop and maintain training materials and a centralized knowledge repository for data operations.

  • Establish and maintain a robust data governance framework, including policy development and compliance enforcement.

  • Manage user access and permissions for data tools, ensuring security and compliance.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance customer success and outreach initiatives.

  • Conduct root cause analysis for recurring issues and implement solutions to prevent future occurrences.

  • Proactively communicate with customers regarding known issues and new features.

Requirements

  • Active Top Secret (TS) clearance with SCI eligibility.

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related technical discipline and 8-12 years of relevant experience OR Master's degree in a related field and 6-10 years of relevant experience.

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in data architecture, engineering, or related roles.

  • Proven experience in designing and implementing data governance frameworks.

  • Experience designing enterprise-scale data architectures in cloud environments (e.g., AWS, Azure, or GCP).

  • Experience designing and implementing data ingestion, transformation, storage, and analytics frameworks.

  • Experience defining enterprise data models, metadata strategies, and lineage documentation.

  • Experience integrating data architectures with DevSecOps pipelines and CI/CD processes.

  • Experience with data pipeline development and data quality monitoring.

  • Strong understanding of data management principles and best practices.

  • Strong leadership and communication skills.

  • Experience in customer support and engagement initiatives.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active TS/SCI clearance.

  • 10+ years of experience in data architecture and engineering.

  • Experience operating within SAFe or large-scale Agile frameworks supporting enterprise systems.

  • Experience with cloud-based data solutions and analytics platforms.

  • Familiarity with data security policies and compliance regulations.

  • Experience supporting enterprise data platforms across NIPRNet, SIPRNet, and JWICS environments.

  • Experience implementing federated data catalogs and cross-domain data exchange solutions.

  • Experience aligning data architecture with Zero Trust and enterprise cybersecurity requirements.

  • Experience supporting AI/ML model pipelines and feature engineering frameworks.

  • Relevant cloud or data architecture certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Data Analytics, Azure Data Engineer, or equivalent).
