Job description

This role is based out of our London office, however the models of working at BMJ support a flexible approach; it is expected that the role will be 'remote first'. The Platforms team typically have monthly in-person team meetings and there will be a requirement to attend occasional ad hoc meetings with users and stakeholders in our London office., * Provide technical advice, support, training and documentation for all system users (editors, reviewers, authors and internal customers)

  • Main point of day-to-day contact for suppliers of publishing systems ScholarOne Kriyadocs / RightsLink
  • Liaise with suppliers around development requests following established processes and ways of working
  • To suggest, trial and implement improvements to the systems workflows,
  • Maintaining knowledge of new systems and products within the Publishing environment
  • To evaluate and test alternative systems and products
  • Coordinate data integrity across submission and production systems
  • To manage, contribute and support departmental and company wide projects

Requirements

Do you have experience in XML?, You will need knowledge of HTML and XML, and some experience using API calls would be preferable. Experience in a Science, Technical and Medical (STM) publishing environment would be desirable. Knowledge of the peer review process would also be beneficial., Essential

  • Proven experience in a Science, Technical and Medical (STM) publishing environment
  • Strong working knowledge of HTML and XML
  • Demonstrated stakeholder management skills, including collaboration with internal teams and external suppliers

Desirable

  • Experience working with APIs and system integrations
  • Knowledge of the Journal Article Tag Suite (JATS) XML standard
  • Understanding of academic peer review workflows and publishing processes
  • Experience designing or delivering user training on systems and operational processes
  • Experience participating in departmental and organisation-wide projects and initiatives
