Job description

We are expanding our cybersecurity team and are looking for a Junior Cybersecurity Analyst to support cybersecurity assessments, remediation tracking, technical research, evidence review, and security program activities.

Role Overview

This is an entry-level role for someone with a strong interest in cybersecurity, a basic technical foundation, and the motivation to learn quickly in a consulting environment.

You will support a range of cybersecurity projects, including security assessments, vulnerability and remediation tracking, technical research, evidence review, documentation, and framework/control reviews. You do not need to be an expert, but you should be willing to dig into unfamiliar topics, research possible answers, ask good questions, and follow through on assigned work while also taking initiative to keep learning as new needs arise.

Consulting work can move quickly, and priorities may shift as client needs change. We are looking for someone who is self-motivated, organized, and eager to take on more as they learn. The right person will be comfortable supporting both technical and non-technical work, including reviewing findings, organizing evidence, updating project materials, and helping prepare clear project updates.

Responsibilities

  • Support cybersecurity assessments, control reviews, and remediation activities
  • Help review, organize, and track security findings, risks, vulnerabilities, and remediation items
  • Assist with vulnerability management activities, including researching findings and documenting remediation status
  • Review technical evidence such as system documentation, policies, logs, diagrams, reports, and tool outputs
  • Assist with evidence requests and documentation collection
  • Research cybersecurity topics, vulnerabilities, risks, tools, and best practices
  • Support cybersecurity framework and control review activities, including NIST CSF, CIS Controls, and similar frameworks
  • Assist with third-party security reviews and related technical documentation
  • Help update project trackers, dashboards, status updates, and internal notes under guidance from senior team members
  • Help prepare project summaries and recurring status updates
  • Work with senior team members to learn cybersecurity consulting, governance, risk, compliance, and technical security assessment practices

Requirements

Do you have experience in Research?, * Strong interest in cybersecurity, IT, security operations, vulnerability management, governance, risk, compliance, or security consulting

  • Basic understanding of cybersecurity and IT fundamentals, or a strong willingness to learn quickly
  • Exposure to networking concepts such as IP addresses, DNS, firewalls, ports, protocols, VPNs, or common network services
  • Exposure to Windows, Linux, or enterprise IT environments through coursework, labs, internships, certifications, or hands-on experience
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfortable working with spreadsheets, documents, trackers, and dashboards
  • Willingness to ask questions early, research unfamiliar topics, and learn quickly
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and follow up consistently
  • Comfortable working in a small, fast-moving team environment
  • Self-motivated and willing to keep building technical knowledge independently
  • Must be based in Hawaii and authorized to work in the U.S., * Degree, coursework, internship, certification, lab work, or hands-on experience in cybersecurity, IT, computer science, information systems, networking, or a related field
  • Exposure to vulnerability scanning, remediation tracking, security monitoring, incident response, endpoint security, firewall concepts, or system hardening
  • Familiarity with tools or concepts such as Nessus, Tenable, CrowdStrike, Microsoft Defender, SIEM/log analysis, Active Directory, cloud security, or endpoint protection
  • Exposure to frameworks such as NIST CSF, CIS Controls, ISO 27001, or similar
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, PowerPoint, Google Slides, or similar tools
  • Experience creating or updating trackers, reports, dashboards, or technical documentation
  • Security+, Network+, Google Cybersecurity Certificate, Cisco, Microsoft, AWS, or similar certification is a plus, but not required
  • Prior military, government, audit, IT support, help desk, SOC, networking, or project coordination experience is a plus

Pay: $45,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year, * 401(k)
