Job description

The Salesforce and Data Systems Administrator plays a critical role in supporting Homeward Bound's mission to serve individuals and families experiencing homelessness and those in supportive housing. This part-time role serves as the primary internal administrator for Homeward Bound's Exponent Salesforce system, which integrates with the agency's Homeless Management Information System, or HMIS.

Staff enter HUD required data into HMIS, which migrates nightly to Salesforce, while additional case management and program data are entered directly into Salesforce. The Administrator is responsible for routine system administration, user support, data integrity, reports and dashboards, and configuration updates, including fields, objects, permissions, and workflows. The role also monitors the nightly HMIS to Salesforce data sync and works with the Director of Data Analysis and external partners, as needed, to troubleshoot issues and support system improvements., Salesforce Administration & System Management

  • Administer and maintain the Salesforce platform, including user management, data integrity, security, and system performance.
  • Configure and customize Salesforce (objects, fields, flows, validation rules, reports, dashboards) to meet evolving program and organizational needs.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot system issues, ensuring minimal disruption to staff workflows.
  • Manage data imports, exports, and integrations, including the nightly HMIS-to-Salesforce (Exponent) data sync.
  • Support with staff training in data system, usage, and reporting.

HMIS Integration & Data Oversight

  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of data by migrating from HMIS into Salesforce.
  • Collaborate with HMIS administrators, Exponent administrators, and Director of Data Analysis to resolve data discrepancies.
  • Maintain understanding of HUD data requirements and ensure systems align with compliance standards.

Continuous Improvement

  • Evaluate and implement new Salesforce features, tools, and integrations as appropriate.
  • Stay current on Salesforce releases, nonprofit best practices, and HMIS requirements.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes and reduce administrative burden on program staff., This role ensures that our data systems not only meet compliance requirements but actively support the life-changing work of our staff. By maintaining a reliable, user-friendly Salesforce environment integrated with HMIS, the Administrator enables better service delivery, clearer insights, and stronger outcomes for the communities we serve.

Requirements

Do you have a valid Certified Salesforce Administrator certification?, Do you have experience in Systems analysis?, * 2+ years of experience administering Salesforce (Salesforce Administrator Certification preferred or willingness to obtain).

  • Experience working with data systems that support human services, housing, or nonprofit programs.
  • Strong understanding of database management, data integrity, and reporting.
  • Experience translating business or program needs into technical solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with non-technical staff.
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity and serving vulnerable populations.

Preferred:

  • Experience with HMIS or similar systems, particularly those aligned with HUD requirements.
  • Familiarity with nonprofit Salesforce implementations (e.g., Nonprofit Success Pack or similar).
  • Experience supporting case management workflows or social service programs.
  • Knowledge of data visualization tools and advanced reporting techniques.

Benefits & conditions

$48-$51 per hour DOE. Under California law, Homeward Bound is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role and should not offer a salary or hourly rate outside of the range posted in this job announcement. This range considers the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decision including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, analysis of internal equity, and other business and organizational needs. Salary and hourly rate offers are determined based on final candidate's qualifications and experience.
