Job description

The Tool Crib Attendant is responsible for managing tooling inventory, issuing and receiving tools, supporting production with tooling needs, and maintaining an organized and efficient tool crib. This position ensures tooling is available, tracked, maintained, and properly stored to support production operations., Tool Crib Operations

  • Issue, receive, and track cutting tools, holders, gauges, and consumables used in production.
  • Maintain accurate tooling inventory through routine cycle counts and inventory tracking systems.
  • Stock tool cabinets on the production floor as needed.
  • Maintain Zoller cabinets and pre-setters to ensure they remain clean, organized, and operational.
  • Coordinate with Zoller or other vendors when issues arise with equipment or tooling systems.
  • Ensure proper organization and cleanliness of the tool crib and tooling storage areas.
  • Build and maintain storage locations for new cabinets and tooling systems.

Tooling Management

  • Track non-utilized tooling and identify items with no movement for 6+ months.
  • Notify Engineering of underutilized tooling or inventory opportunities.
  • Manage the tool regrind and rework process, including:
  • Collecting tools
  • Sorting tools for regrind
  • Preparing tools for shipment
  • Verifying tools against packing slips
  • Monitor tool condition and coordinate replacement or repair when necessary.

Production Support

  • Assist operators, tool setters, and technicians with locating tools and tooling components.
  • Ensure tools and equipment are available when needed to avoid production downtime.
  • Return tools and supplies to their designated locations after use.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts in tool organization and efficiency.

Requirements

Do you have experience in Shipping & receiving?, Do you have a High school diploma or GED?, * High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience

  • Experience in a manufacturing, machining, or tool crib environment preferred.
  • Familiarity with CNC tooling, inserts, holders, and gauging equipment preferred.

Skills

  • Strong organizational and inventory management skills.
  • Basic mechanical knowledge and understanding of tooling systems.
  • Attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to support production teams.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand or walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs occasionally.
  • Ability to bend, squat, twist, and reach when retrieving or storing tools.
  • Manual dexterity to handle small tooling components and equipment.
