Joseph & Associates is seeking a Data Scientist to support a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) program. The ideal candidate will leverage advanced analytics, statistical modeling, machine learning, and data visualization techniques to transform complex data into actionable insights that support operational, strategic, and mission-focused decision-making.
This role will work closely with stakeholders, analysts, engineers, and leadership teams to identify trends, develop predictive models, improve forecasting capabilities, and communicate data-driven recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences. The successful candidate will have strong analytical skills, experience working with large and complex datasets, and the ability to translate business challenges into scalable analytical solutions., * Develop, validate, and deploy predictive models, statistical analyses, and machine learning solutions to support operational and business objectives.
- Analyze large, complex datasets to identify trends, patterns, anomalies, and opportunities for process improvement and operational efficiency.
- Perform forecasting, utilization, trend, risk, and performance analyses to support strategic planning and decision-making.
- Design and execute exploratory data analyses to uncover actionable insights and inform business strategies.
- Develop statistical methodologies and analytical frameworks to evaluate program performance and operational outcomes.
- Translate analytical findings into executive-level briefings, reports, dashboards, and visualizations tailored to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Collaborate with Data Engineers and technical teams to operationalize models and integrate analytical solutions into production environments.
- Design and maintain dashboards, scorecards, KPIs, and performance metrics to support ongoing program monitoring.
- Evaluate data quality and integrity, identifying opportunities to improve data reliability and analytical accuracy.
- Partner with stakeholders to understand business requirements and convert complex problems into data-driven solutions.
- Document analytical methodologies, assumptions, model performance metrics, and findings to support transparency and reproducibility.
- Support ad hoc analyses, special projects, and executive requests in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
- Participate in Agile development processes, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, and stakeholder demonstrations.
Requirements
Do you have experience in Time series forecasting?, Do you have a Bachelor's degree in statistics?, * Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Operations Research, Economics, Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
- 5+ years of experience performing advanced analytics, statistical analysis, predictive modeling, or data science activities.
- Strong proficiency in Python, R, SQL, or other analytical programming languages.
- Experience applying statistical techniques, predictive analytics, machine learning, and data mining methodologies.
- Experience working with large, complex structured and unstructured datasets.
- Strong understanding of probability, statistical inference, regression analysis, hypothesis testing, and forecasting techniques.
- Experience developing executive-level reports, dashboards, and visualizations.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical findings to non-technical audiences.
- Experience using data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, QuickSight, or similar platforms.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DHS Public Trust.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting DHS, ICE, CBP, USCIS, DOJ, DoD, or other federal government agencies.
Clearance Requirement
- Active DHS Suitability preferred.
