Job description

Join Mapfre as a Manager, Telematics and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of data-driven insurance. This high-impact leadership position is responsible for defining and executing the enterprise telematics strategy across our Personal Lines portfolio.

You will own the end-to-end telematics roadmap- driving innovation that enhances underwriting precision, pricing sophistication, customer engagement, and overall risk selection. This is a unique opportunity to operate at the intersection of insurance, data, and technology, partnering across Product, Actuarial, Data & Analytics, IT, and external vendors to deliver scalable, market-leading solutions.

What You'll Do

Strategic Leadership & Roadmap Ownership

  • Own and define the enterprise telematics strategy and multi-year roadmap for Personal Lines products
  • Lead the rollout and scaling of telematics capabilities across states and product lines
  • Ensure alignment of telematics initiatives with pricing strategy, underwriting philosophy, and customer experience objectives
  • Identify and prioritize opportunities to enhance risk selection, segmentation, and customer value propositions

Vendor Management & External Partnerships

  • Lead end-to-end vendor management, including selection, onboarding, and performance oversight of telematics providers
  • Drive vendor evaluation processes and RFPs to ensure best-in-class technology and services
  • Act as primary relationship manager with vendors, establishing performance expectations, service levels, and continuous improvement plans
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and market trends to maintain MAPFRE's competitive positioning

Data Pipeline & Technology Integration

  • Oversee the design, development, and integration of the telematics data pipeline, ensuring seamless data flow from collection to consumption
  • Partner with IT and Data Engineering teams to ensure:
  • Scalable architecture
  • Data quality and reliability
  • Secure and compliant data handling
  • Drive integration of telematics data into core systems, including:
  • Policy administration platforms
  • Rating engines
  • Data warehouses and analytics environments

Data Enablement & Business Impact

  • Ensure telematics data is actionable and effectively utilized across the organization to support:
  • Pricing sophistication
  • Risk assessment and underwriting decisions
  • Customer insights and segmentation strategies
  • Partner with Actuarial and Data Science teams to:
  • Develop predictive models
  • Enhance rating algorithms
  • Improve portfolio performance
  • Translate complex data into clear, actionable insights for senior leadership

State Expansion & Regulatory Coordination

  • Lead telematics state expansion strategy and execution, ensuring readiness across regulatory, product, and operational requirements
  • Coordinate with Compliance, Legal, and Product teams to ensure:
  • Adherence to state-specific regulations
  • Alignment with filing requirements
  • Develop scalable approaches to expand telematics offerings efficiently across jurisdictions

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Serve as a key cross-functional leader, aligning stakeholders across:
  • Product
  • Actuarial
  • Underwriting
  • IT
  • Distribution & Marketing
  • Drive collaboration to ensure telematics initiatives are fully integrated into the broader Personal Lines strategy
  • Influence senior leadership decisions through data-driven insights and strategic recommendations

Requirements

Do you have experience in Vendor relationship management?, * Minimum 5+ years of experience in telematics, product management, data/analytics, or related roles

  • Proven experience managing end-to-end product or data-driven initiatives
  • Demonstrated success in vendor management, including sourcing, RFP processes, and performance oversight
  • Experience leading cross-functional initiatives in a complex, matrixed organization, within the Property & Casualty (P&C) space, + Telematics technologies and data ecosystems
  • Insurance pricing, underwriting, and risk segmentation principles
  • Data pipelines, integration frameworks, and analytics applications
  • Familiarity with regulatory considerations impacting telematics programs within Personal Lines

  • Strong strategic thinking and execution capabilities
  • Ability to influence and lead without direct authority across multiple functions
  • Excellent communication and executive presentation skills
  • Proven ability to translate technical concepts into business value and outcomes

Pay Philosophy: The typical starting salary range for this role is determined by several factors including skills, experience, education, certifications, and location. Some roles at Mapfre are eligible for commission and/or bonus earnings, in addition to salary, calculated based upon factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.

Salary Range $100,900 - $131,100
