Job description
- Design, develop, and maintain tooling, fixtures, and gauges for research and development, new product launches, and manufacturing operations.
- Create and maintain tooling records, drawings, specifications, and design documentation.
- Evaluate customer and production requirements to determine manufacturability and tooling needs.
- Analyze technical drawings and blueprints to resolve tooling design challenges.
- Develop tooling prints, models, and bills of materials using 3D CAD software.
- Create and maintain standard work instructions, technical documentation, and lessons-learned records to improve designs and reduce waste.
- Participate in and support product realization activities, including APQP processes, risk assessments, test plans, and verification activities.
- Collaborate with Project Managers to establish tooling specifications and project requirements.
- Work closely with tool room personnel to ensure designs can be manufactured safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively.
- Review and validate supplier tooling designs and authorize release for production when appropriate.
- Coordinate design reviews and engineering documentation with project management and manufacturing teams.
- Partner with Quality teams to validate tooling and support First Article Inspection (FAI) activities.
- Manage tooling development projects from order receipt through first production run.
- Identify opportunities to improve tooling safety, ergonomics, efficiency, and process consistency through Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Research new technologies, materials, and manufacturing processes to support customer and business objectives.
- Provide regular project updates and maintain effective communication with all stakeholders.
Requirements
Do you have experience in Productivity software?, * Minimum of 5 years of experience in product, process, manufacturing, or tooling engineering.
- Minimum of 5 years of 3D CAD modeling experience.
- Strong proficiency with SolidWorks or similar 3D modeling software.
- Ability to interpret and analyze engineering drawings, specifications, and manufacturing requirements.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and technical communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field.
- Experience working within AS9100 and/or ISO 9001 quality systems.
- Knowledge of APQP, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Experience supporting new product development and manufacturing process improvements.
