Job description

Quasars, Inc. is hiring an AI/ML Specialist to support federal clients in developing, deploying, and operationalizing artificial intelligence and machine learning solutions that enhance mission effectiveness and decision-making. This role supports enterprise data, analytics, and AI initiatives by working closely with stakeholders to identify analytical needs, develop advanced predictive models, and implement scalable AI capabilities across secure cloud and hybrid environments.The AI/ML Specialist will serve as a technical leader responsible for the full AI/ML lifecycle-from requirements analysis and data exploration through model development, testing, deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise in machine learning and data science with the ability to communicate complex concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences. This position requires collaboration with data engineers, data scientists, analysts, and mission stakeholders to ensure AI solutions are secure, explainable, scalable, and aligned with organizational priorities.Responsibilities

Project Planning / Management

· Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily standups, and retrospectives.

· Collaborate with government stakeholders to identify, define, document, and prioritize AI/ML requirements and use cases.

· Support the development of technical documentation, implementation plans, briefings, and executive-level presentations.

· Review technical work products, model documentation, implementation materials, and deliverables for completeness, quality, and adherence to customer requirements.

· Track project milestones, technical deliverables, risks, dependencies, and mitigation strategies.

· Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful delivery of AI-enabled capabilities.

AI/ML Solution Development

· Design, develop, train, validate, and deploy machine learning and artificial intelligence models to address mission and business challenges.

· Develop descriptive, diagnostic, predictive, and prescriptive analytics solutions using structured and unstructured data sources.

· Perform data exploration, preprocessing, feature engineering, and model evaluation to support the development of reliable and mission-aligned AI/ML solutions

· Evaluate and select appropriate AI/ML algorithms, frameworks, and technologies based on mission requirements.

· Develop proof-of-concepts, pilots, and production-ready AI solutions that support operational decision-making.

· Apply statistical analysis, machine learning, and predictive modeling techniques to derive actionable insights.

· Assess AI tools, platforms, and products for compatibility within client technology ecosystems.

· Collaborate with end users to refine analytical approaches and ensure solutions meet operational needs.

MLOps, Testing & Deployment

· Implement AI/ML solutions throughout the DevSecOps and MLOps lifecycle.

· Develop automated model training, testing, deployment, and monitoring pipelines.

· Conduct model validation, verification, performance testing, and ongoing evaluation of AI/ML solutions.

· Monitor model performance and recommend improvements to maintain accuracy, reliability, and operational effectiveness.

· Support deployment of AI/ML capabilities into production environments while adhering to security, governance, and compliance requirements.

· Develop documentation and procedures supporting model maintenance, retraining, and operational sustainment.

· Apply government policies, security requirements, data governance standards, and compliance considerations throughout AI/ML development, deployment, and sustainment activities.

Stakeholder Engagement and Advisory Services

· Partner with business and mission stakeholders to understand operational challenges and identify opportunities for AI adoption.

· Present technical findings, recommendations, and implementation strategies to senior leadership and program stakeholders.

· Provide subject matter expertise on emerging AI technologies, machine learning techniques, and industry best practices.

· Support the development of enterprise AI strategies, roadmaps, governance processes, and capability maturation efforts.

· Mentor junior team members and contribute to knowledge sharing across project teams.

Requirements

Do you have experience in Python?, · Master's degree in Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Computer Science, Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.

· Minimum of six (6) years of AI/ML-specific experience, or five (5) years of AI/ML experience with a PhD focused on AI/ML development, research, or testing.

· CAP Professional Certification or equivalent analytics, data science, or AI-related certification.

· Active Secret clearance or ability to obtain and maintain a clearance; eligibility for Top Secret/SCI preferred.

· Demonstrated experience developing, deploying, and testing AI/ML models in production environments, using common tools including Python and R.

· Strong understanding of data governance, security, privacy, and responsible AI principles.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to diverse audiences.

Preferred Experience

· Experience working within classified or highly regulated environments.

· Familiarity with enterprise data platforms, metadata management, and data governance frameworks.

· Experience developing AI-enabled decision support tools and mission-focused analytical applications.

· Knowledge of Agile delivery methodologies and DevSecOps practices.

· Experience with Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), Generative AI, Large Language Models (LLMs), and AI governance frameworks.

Transferable Skills for Management Consulting

· Ability to translate mission and business requirements into technical AI solutions.

· Experience developing executive briefings, strategic recommendations, and implementation roadmaps.

· Strong analytical problem-solving capabilities and attention to detail.

· Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams supporting complex organizational initiatives.
