Job description

MAB Community Services is a non-profit human service organization dedicated to supporting individuals with disabilities, including adults with developmental disabilities, adults with acquired brain injuries, individuals who are blind or visually impaired, and adolescents with autism. We are seeking an enthusiastic and innovative Access Technology Coordinator to join our team and help individuals maximize their independence through assistive technology.

This part-time position (10 hours per week with a flexible schedule) provides meaningful hands-on support by assessing technology needs, providing training, troubleshooting devices, and helping individuals build the skills needed to navigate today's digital world.

Under the direction of the Director of Access Technology Training, the Access Technology Coordinator will support the operation and growth of MAB's Access Technology Program throughout Boston and surrounding communities.

What You'll Do:

  • Conduct assistive technology assessments, training, coaching, and ongoing support for individuals who are blind or visually impaired.
  • Teach clients how to use access technology tools, including screen readers, magnification software, mobile accessibility features, and other adaptive technologies.
  • Provide technical troubleshooting and support for assistive technology devices and software.
  • Develop and deliver individualized lessons, trainings, and educational programs.
  • Support and coordinate volunteer technology instructors, including training and scheduling.
  • Maintain accurate participant records and documentation while following HIPAA confidentiality standards.
  • Build relationships with community partners, senior centers, healthcare providers, and local organizations.
  • Participate in outreach activities and presentations to increase awareness of access technology services.
  • Research and stay current on emerging assistive technologies and accessibility practices.
  • Support technology pilots, user testing, and program development initiatives.
  • Provide training and consultation to MABVI staff, including Occupational Therapists and Orientation & Mobility specialists, as needed.

Requirements

Do you have experience in iOS?, * Bachelor's degree preferred in technology, education, rehabilitation, disability studies, or related field; equivalent experience considered.

  • Experience working with individuals who are blind or visually impaired, individuals with disabilities, or within rehabilitation services strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of assistive technology including screen readers, magnification tools, Braille technology, and accessibility software.
  • Familiarity with Windows, Mac, Android, and iOS operating systems.
  • Knowledge of digital accessibility standards and best practices, including WCAG and ADA accessibility principles preferred.
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidential records and manage participant information.
  • Experience developing training materials, curriculum, or technology instruction preferred.
  • Certifications such as CATIS, CPACC, or similar accessibility/assistive technology credentials preferred.
