Automotive Glass Quality Assurance Specialist

Picture your day: you start by reviewing overnight SPC charts, scanning for trends before stepping onto the production floor where you'll verify parts against visual standards and control plans. Mid-morning, you're on the line auditing a process to IATF 16949 and customer-specific requirements, then heading to the lab to run a fixture R&R and confirm measurement system reliability. In the afternoon, you partner with Manufacturing and Engineering to resolve a nonconformance, contain suspect product, and communicate control limits and results to internal leaders-and when needed, directly to our customer.

As a key member of our operations quality team, you'll ensure products and processes meet our internal systems and our customers' expectations while driving corrective, preventive, and continuous improvement actions across the plant., * Execute product inspections and tests using defined methods, fixtures, and measurement systems to verify conformance to internal standards and customer specifications.

• Conduct product, process, and documentation audits aligned to IATF 16949 and customer-specific requirements; escalate concerns and stop production when conditions are nonconforming.
• Monitor and interpret SPC data to detect shifts and trends; initiate containment and corrective action as appropriate.
• Lead or support in-house and on-site customer sorts, re-inspections, and containment; train operators on off-line inspection and containment activities.
• Drive and maintain corrective and preventive action activities; analyze likely causes, recommend process changes, and verify effectiveness.
• Investigate internal and customer nonconformances; inspect returns, determine disposition, and coordinate rework, scrap, or further containment per quality procedures.
• Perform Measurement System Analysis (including fixture reliability and repeatability-R&R) to validate accuracy and consistency of results.
• Develop and execute test and inspection procedures per control plans and guidance from Quality Engineering.
• Assist with product launches and engineering changes-quality planning, inspection setup, validation testing, and early production containment.
• Create and maintain visual quality standards and inspection criteria with Manufacturing and Engineering.
• Update control plans, inspection plans, IPICS, and control charts based on SPC, audit outcomes, and CAPA results.
• Represent Operations Quality in discussions with internal teams and customers regarding issues, results, and control limits.
• Support internal system and process audits for company, customer, and IATF 16949 compliance.
• Compile and summarize quality metrics for monthly and customer-required reporting.
• Handle and dispose of hazardous materials and waste per Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) procedures; report hazards and incidents promptly.
• Contribute to a collaborative, positive culture and take on additional duties as needed., * Expect extended walking/standing and routine computer work requiring near/far/depth/color vision; typical keyboard/mouse use averages ~3 hours per day.
• Plant exposure includes machinery, moving equipment and materials, moderate noise, airborne particles, fumes, and temperature variations associated with manufacturing.
• Primary worksite is a manufacturing facility; occasional travel (about once per quarter) for meetings, sub-supplier visits, and gauge R&R/safe launch activities at gauge/automation shops., * Quality Systems & Compliance: Applies IATF 16949, customer-specific, and internal system standards to inspection, nonconformance control, CAPA, and auditing.
• Problem Solving & Continuous Improvement: Uses SPC and structured methods (8D, MDCAR) to find root causes, implement CAPA, and enhance processes.
• Technical Inspection & Data Analysis: Executes defined test and measurement methods; interprets drawings/specs/control plans; analyzes quality data to drive decisions.
• Collaboration & Communication: Partners across Operations, Manufacturing, and Engineering; conveys requirements and results clearly to stakeholders and customers.

Do you have experience in Customer communication?, Do you have a High school diploma or GED?, * High school diploma or GED required; Associate's degree or technical certification in Quality, Manufacturing, or Engineering Technology preferred.

• 2-5 years in manufacturing quality (automotive/IATF 16949 environment preferred).
• Working knowledge of IATF 16949 and customer-specific requirements.
• Hands-on experience with inspection/testing methods and basic measurement tools; able to read engineering drawings and specifications.
• Proficiency with SPC, data analysis, and structured problem solving (e.g., 8D, MDCAR); experience supporting CAPA, audits, and containment.
• Clear communicator who partners effectively with Manufacturing and Engineering; comfortable communicating with customers when needed.
• Commitment to EHS practices and knowledge of shop-floor safety protocols.
• English fluency with strong written and verbal skills; Spanish bilingual ability is a plus., * Prolonged standing of at least 6 hours and up to 12 hours per day.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs multiple times per hour.
• Frequent bending, twisting, turning, and lifting.
