Job description

As an Information Technology Specialist, you will:

  • Prepare and present briefings to senior management officials on complex and sometimes controversial issues.
  • Provide on-call tier 3 support for applications with availability requirements beyond normal business hours.
  • Manage and support IT hardware such as Cisco UCS systems, Nutanix hyper-converged solutions, and traditional stand-alone server hardware (such as HP, Dell, Sun, IBM server/blade chassis).
  • Collaborative with other division or cross-division staff to produce solid designs for enterprises solutions to meet customers' needs within End User Computing environment., * All newly appointed employees to the competitive (or excepted) service are subject to a probationary (or trial) period. During this time, your performance, conduct, and suitability for continued employment will be evaluated. You will not automatically convert to permanent status at the end of the probationary (or trial) period. Requirements

Specialized Experience for the GS-13: You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes:

  • Demonstrating systems administration on Linux and Windows servers with experience in IT disciplines (such as provisioning routine configuration, installation, vulnerability management, and reconfiguration of database and related products); AND
  • Supporting incident resolution (examples include using service desk ticketing tools such as ServiceNow or Remedy, troubleshooting and resolving problems directly and when needed, assisting and providing direction to junior support staff for escalated issues); AND
  • Experience automating IT operational processes, reducing manual intervention and improving overall system efficiency ( examples include Ansible, Puppet, Chef, or scripting languages like Python and PowerShell)

In addition to meeting specialized experience, at the GS-13 level, individual must have the IT-related experience demonstrating each of the following competencies:
