Job description

  • Processing Virginia and/or Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) responses received electronically through the Consolidated Applicant Tracking System (CATS).
  • Conducting inquiries on names and other descriptive data, using the Criminal History Background Request forms.
  • Opening/reviewing incoming mail for completeness, and accuracy pursuant to established procedures.

Requirements

Do you have experience in Writing skills?, Do you have a High school diploma or GED?, Knowledge:

  • Of general office practices and procedures.

Skills:

  • In using a personal computer and Microsoft Office applications.
  • In keyboarding.

Abilities:

  • To exercise independent judgement and apply prescribed policies and procedures.
  • To follow written and verbal instructions.
  • To pay close attention to details.
  • To research and analyze information and make logical decisions based on policies, procedures, and laws associated with criminal history checks.
  • To work independently and as part of a team.
  • To communicate effectively orally and in writing in English.
  • Must be eligible to become Virginia Criminal Information Network (VCIN) certified which requires either United States citizenship or lawful permanent resident of the United States and eligible for naturalization.
  • Graduation from high school or equivalent.

Additional Considerations

  • Some experience working in a criminal justice environment dealing with confidential information preferred.
