Support and maintain high-availability network infrastructure supporting the Persistent Infrared Testbed (PIT) and associated OPIR environments
Perform day-to-day network operations, including maintenance, configuration changes, and troubleshooting
Troubleshoot complex network issues using a variety of tools (e.g., packet captures, TCP dumps, WireShark, firewall logs)
Support routers, switches, and firewalls across classified and unclassified networks
Assist senior network engineers and system administrators with architecture sustainment and testing activities
Contribute to improving network documentation, diagrams, and operational artifacts (not a primary documentation role)
Support occasional after-hours operational testing or mission activities (not on-call)
Requirements
Insight Global is seeking a Principal or Senior Principal Network Engineer (Level 3 or 4) to support a critical OPIR BMDs mission sitting onsite at Schriever Space Force Base in Colorado Springs, CO. This engineer will support highly available classified and unclassified networks that enable advanced infrared sensing, testing, and operational mission support. This role is hands-on and operational in nature, focused on network sustainment, troubleshooting, and incremental improvements within a uniquely complex testbed environment. The ideal candidate is a strong technical troubleshooter who is comfortable working across multiple tools, protocols, and network components in a fast-moving, mission-critical setting. This position offers a standard schedule: Monday-Friday, 8-4 or 9-5pm with flexible core hours but may require occasional after-hours support for testing or mission activities. This is a collaborative team environment supporting national defense priorities. This, Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility (required to start)
Willingness to undergo a Counter-Intelligence Polygraph
DoD 8140 / IAT Level II certification or higher (Security+, GSEC, SSCP, CISSP, etc.)
Bachelor's degree and 5-10+ years of Network Engineering experience or additional experience in lieu of degree
Experience supporting enterprise or mission networks using Cisco routers and switches and Fortinet firewalls
Strong understanding of TCP/IP behavior, network communications, and troubleshooting methodologies
Ability to confidently discuss and apply tools such as WireShark, tcpdump, ping, traceroute, netstat, and related diagnostics
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment supporting high-visibility program CCNA or other networking-focused certifications
Experience with Cisco Catalyst and Nexus platforms
Firewall configuration experience (access policies, NAT, troubleshooting)
Experience troubleshooting complex network connectivity issues in unique or non-standard environments
Familiarity with Visio for network diagrams and topology documentation
Experience implementing or maintaining network STIGs
Basic Linux navigation skills
Experience with HA network configurations, multicast routing, or Cisco ISE
Benefits & conditions
is a contract-to-hire position supporting the prime contractor. Pay Range: Pay will be hourly (with salary conversion) and varies by level of experience. Average Range: ~$60-94/hr. Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education. Benefit packages for this role will start on the 31st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401k retirement account access with employer matching.
