Job description

We replace paper checks with digital payments and connect law firms and medical providers into a real-time payment network - automating IOLTA trust disbursements, reconciliation, and compliance from end to end.

The problem is massive, painfully manual, and largely untouched by modern software.

If you've ever thought:

  • "Why are people still printing and mailing checks in 2026?"
  • "Why does reconciling money still involve spreadsheets and human error?"
  • "Why isn't there a system that just... handles all of this automatically?"

That's exactly what we're building.

This isn't a CRUD app. This is high-stakes money movement, compliance-critical workflows, and multi-party financial coordination - all in one system.

We're dealing with:

  • Real-time payments (ACH, RTP, wires)
  • Trust accounting (IOLTA compliance)
  • Multi-party disbursements (law firms, providers, clients)
  • Reconciliation across bank, books, and ledger
  • Audit trails that actually matter

The bar is high. The edge cases are real. The impact is immediate.

You're not just shipping features - you're replacing an entire manual system that law firms rely on today., We're hiring a Senior Software Engineer to help build the core infrastructure and product powering Disbo.

This is a high-ownership, product-focused role - you'll work directly with the founder and engineering leadership to design, build, and ship systems that handle real money movement and compliance.

You will:

  • Own features end-to-end
  • Make architectural decisions
  • Work on complex, real-world financial workflows

What You'll Do

  • Design, build, and ship full-stack features (React + Rails)
  • Architect systems for payments, disbursement logic, and reconciliation
  • Integrate with payment infrastructure (Modern Treasury, ACH, wires, RTP)
  • Build scalable, reliable backend services and APIs
  • Handle complex edge cases around money movement and compliance
  • Improve system performance, observability, and reliability
  • Debug production issues and move fast to resolution
  • Collaborate closely with product, ops, and leadership

Tech Stack

  • Frontend: React, Redux, Tailwind
  • Backend: Ruby on Rails
  • Database: PostgreSQL
  • Infra: Heroku (evolving), cloud- direction
  • Integrations: Modern Treasury, Filevine (Clio & QuickBooks next)

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience building production systems
  • Strong full-stack experience (frontend + backend)
  • Experience designing scalable systems and APIs
  • Comfortable owning problems end-to-end (not just tickets)
  • Strong debugging and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced, ambiguous startup environment

Nice to Have (Strong Plus)

  • Fintech / payments / money movement experience
  • Experience with ledgers, reconciliation, or accounting systems
  • Experience integrating third-party APIs
  • Experience with QuickBooks, Clio, or legal/financial systems
  • Startup or 0*1 experience
