Functional Analyst - ERP and AI

A multi-entity industrial distribution company is looking for a senior-level BA to lead process improvement and AI workflow initiatives across their family of companies. This person will sit at the intersection of ERP operations, lean enterprise methodology, and practical AI adoption, working directly with the Enterprise Solutions Director and executive leadership to connect business strategy to ground-level execution. The role carries real cross-functional scope, touching IS development teams, operational stakeholders, and end users across multiple sites.

This position is onsite in Houston, 5 days a week.

Responsibilities

• Map end-to-end operational workflows across the enterprise, identifying bottlenecks, capacity constraints, and waste in information flow
• Partner with business units to develop value stream maps and establish standardized operating models across multiple entities
• Define enterprise-wide data structures and the relationships between datasets, supporting a single source of operational truth within the ERP environment
• Design and implement AI-powered workflow automation using tools such as Zapier, Make, n8n, or comparable platforms
• Build prompt frameworks and LLM-based solutions that align with data governance, security standards, and organizational policy
• Support backlog management and project delivery processes in collaboration with IS Development teams
• Develop and maintain KPIs with stakeholders to measure outcomes, track improvement, and institutionalize best practices
• Document processes, system configurations, and AI workflows including SOPs, prompt libraries, and playbooks
• Support organizational change including role definition, training design, and communication planning across operational units

• Extensive experience in process improvement within distribution, manufacturing, or industrial operations environments
• Hands-on experience with enterprise ERP platforms and end-to-end operational workflows from order entry through delivery
• Demonstrated experience with AI workflow automation tools and LLM platforms including ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini
• Prompt engineering experience including system prompts, chain-of-thought design, few-shot examples, and structured output formatting
• Conversational design experience including chat flow logic, fallback handling, and intent mapping
• Experience translating business requirements into AI use case specifications and structured documentation
• Multi-site or multi-entity environment experience
• Project management experience with cross-functional stakeholder coordination
• Working knowledge of SQL querying and Windows-based enterprise environments
• Familiarity with legacy ERP platforms or custom distribution systems is a plus
• Strong written and verbal communication skills bridging technical teams and non-technical leadership
• Advanced Excel proficiency for auditing and operational analysis
