Job description

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Network Security Specialist to join our cybersecurity team. In this role, you will be responsible for safeguarding our IT infrastructure by designing, implementing, and maintaining robust network security measures. Your expertise will ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of our data and systems across diverse environments, including cloud platforms and on-premises networks. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work at the forefront of cybersecurity, applying cutting-edge technologies and standards to protect critical assets., * Develop, implement, and manage network security protocols aligned with industry standards such as NIST and ISO 27000 to ensure comprehensive protection of organizational assets.

  • Configure and maintain security appliances including Cisco ASA firewalls, Cisco ISE for identity management, and VPN solutions for secure remote access.
  • Conduct vulnerability assessments and penetration testing using SIEM tools like Splunk or SolarWinds to identify potential threats within LAN, WAN, SAN, and cloud environments.
  • Monitor network traffic with IDS/IPS systems to detect malicious activity, analyze logs for threat intelligence, and respond swiftly to security incidents.
  • Manage encryption protocols such as IPsec and PKI implementations to secure data in transit and at rest across diverse operating systems including Linux (Debian, CentOS), Windows, macOS, and mobile platforms like Android and iOS.
  • Collaborate on system hardening efforts following best practices for operating systems (Ubuntu, openSUSE) and virtualization platforms like VMware vSphere or AWS cloud architecture.
  • Support incident response processes by performing threat detection & response activities, incident recovery procedures, and maintaining system security plans in compliance with FISMA or FedRAMP standards.

Requirements

  • Proven experience with computer networking concepts including LAN/WAN design, routing protocols (OSPF, BGP), TCP/IP stack management, DHCP/DNS configuration, and network installation.
  • Strong knowledge of network security devices such as firewalls (Cisco ASA), load balancers, VPNs (Remote access software), and network support tools like SolarWinds or PRTG.
  • Familiarity with security frameworks including NIST standards, ISO 27000 series (ISO ), DIACAP or RMF processes for risk management.
  • Hands-on experience with vulnerability management tools for vulnerability research & assessment; threat detection & response; log analysis; incident management; system hardening; disaster recovery planning.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Bash or PowerShell for automation tasks within DevOps environments or system administration roles.
  • Knowledge of cloud computing platforms including AWS, Google Cloud Platform, Azure; experience with cloud infrastructure security best practices is highly desirable.
  • Certifications such as CISSP, CISA, Cisco CCNP Security or equivalent are preferred but not mandatory.
  • Strong analytical skills combined with excellent communication abilities to effectively collaborate across teams in an Agile environment.

Benefits & conditions

Pay: $19.00 - $25.00 per hour
