Job description

The Campus Area Network Administrator is responsible for the administration, maintenance, monitoring, and support of the organization's campus-wide network infrastructure. This role focuses on ensuring the reliability, performance, and security of wired network services while providing advanced troubleshooting and operational support for complex network environments., Network Administration and Support

  • Administer and support enterprise campus network infrastructure including LAN, WLAN, WAN, and internet connectivity.
  • Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Cisco routes, switches.
  • Monitor network performance, availability, and capacity using enterprise network management tools.
  • Perform routine maintenance, upgrades, patching, and configuration changes to network equipment.
  • Maintain network documentation, diagrams, inventories, and standard operating procedures.

Cisco Infrastructure Management

  • Support Cisco Catalyst switching platforms and Cisco routing technologies.
  • Configure and maintain VLANs, trunking, Spanning Tree Protocol (STP), EtherChannel, HSRP, and routing protocols such as OSPF and BGP.
  • Support Cisco security technologies including firewalls, VPNs, and access control lists (ACLs).

Advanced Troubleshooting

  • Investigate, diagnose, and resolve complex network issues impacting connectivity, performance, voice, video services.
  • Perform packet captures, protocol analysis, and root cause investigations using tools such as Wireshark and Cisco diagnostic utilities.
  • Analyze network logs, system alerts, and performance metrics to identify and resolve recurring issues.
  • Escalate and coordinate problem resolution with vendors, service providers, and internal technical teams when necessary.
  • Lead incident response efforts for major network outages and service disruptions.

Network Security and Compliance

  • Implement and maintain network security standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Monitor network infrastructure for vulnerabilities, unauthorized access, and security threats.
  • Support security audits, compliance initiatives, and remediation activities.
  • Assist in maintaining secure segmentation of network resources through VLANs, ACLs, and firewall policies.

Project Support

  • Participate in campus network expansion, modernization, and technology refresh projects.
  • Assist with planning and deployment of new network services and infrastructure.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend improvements to network operations and performance.
  • Collaborate with system administrators, cybersecurity teams, telecommunications staff, and business stakeholders.

Requirements

The ideal candidate possesses strong hands-on experience with Cisco networking technologies and demonstrates the ability to diagnose and resolve complex network issues affecting multiple systems, locations, and services., Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Network Engineering, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • 10+ years of related experience and/or associate degree

Experience

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience administering enterprise network environments.
  • Experience supporting large-scale campus or multi-building network infrastructures.
  • Demonstrated experience with Cisco networking technologies in a production environment.
  • Experience troubleshooting complex network performance and connectivity issues.
