Job description

What does the average day look like?

An average day in this role involves actively supporting design for Governance, Risk, Assurance and Business Change for Great British Railways (GBR), with extensive industry engagement. Facilitating GBR design workshops focused on strategic solution thinking to develop ways of future ways of working across the GBR business. Working as part of a core team of four within a wider team of Governance, Risk and Assurance. The day is highly collaborative and centred around engaging with senior stakeholders to align on priorities and outcomes, assessing current state approaches and considering appropriate changes to the way we will work in GBR.

A significant portion of time is spent managing and delivering workshops on varied content, ensuring discussions remain focused, productive, and solution-oriented. Alongside this, there is a strong emphasis on being proactive, identifying opportunities, driving momentum, and helping the team progress towards clearly defined outcomes.

The team needs to operate independent of Network Rail, and equally supports DFTO and Train Operating Companies in the future design considerations.

A little bit about the team...

The team is responsible for the way we manage business change and improvement, as well as supporting improving how the business operates within Governance, Risk and Assurance. We work closely with stakeholders to understand challenges and design effective, consistent solutions, analysing current processes, define clear requirements, and act as a design authority to embed better ways of working.

Through strong stakeholder engagement, workshops, and promoting best practice, we drive continuous improvement while managing risks, benefits, and organisational change.

Requirements

Do you have experience in Project management?, This role requires a strategic mindset and good understanding of business change, project management and business management. With strong proven ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels. It combines excellent communication and facilitation skills with proven experience in shaping and improving business processes at an enterprise level.

The individual is confident working autonomously in a fast-paced, evolving environment, able to challenge constructively using evidence, and skilled in coaching and change management. Solid knowledge of project delivery, governance, and assurance would be preferred alongside proficiency in Microsoft Office. The role supports complex programmes such as GBR design, requiring adaptability, stakeholder engagement expertise, and a focus on continuous improvement., * Demonstrates strong business/commercial approach and understanding of business management process and capability.

  • Strong ability to manage a variety of stakeholders at all levels of the business
  • Clear understanding of coaching ability and/or demonstrable experience
  • Strong communication skills including workshop facilitation
  • Proven ability to review and edit requirements, specifications, and processes, and recommend solutions
  • Good knowledge of project management, risk management, assurance review, change and improvement process, tools, and techniques.
  • Proven track record of defining and delivering business processes at an enterprise level
  • Ability to tailor presentation styles to suit audience levels.
  • An ability to work autonomously under pressure in a rapidly evolving environment.
  • Proficient use Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Comfortable to challenge with evidence as appropriate.
