Job description

The Product Owner will serve as the voice of the customer and the primary decision maker for the Platform & Portal Services product, partnering closely with software engineers, cloud engineers, platform engineers, cybersecurity professionals, enterprise architects, networking engineers, and stakeholders to deliver high-value capabilities through Agile Scrum.

This role owns the Platform and Portal product vision, including organization portals, platform services, access models, custom approval workflows, user onboarding experiences, and related platform capabilities. The Product Owner is responsible for defining product direction, maintaining a prioritized Product Backlog, and ensuring development teams are building the highest-value capabilities aligned with customer and mission needs.

The ideal candidate combines exceptional Agile Product Ownership skills with a solid technical understanding of enterprise platforms, hybrid cloud architectures, identity and access concepts, and modern software engineering practices. Essential Responsibilities:

  • Own and communicate the product vision, roadmap, and strategic direction for the Platform & Portal Services product.
  • Develop, maintain, prioritize, and continuously refine the Product Backlog.
  • Translate customer and stakeholder needs into well-defined Epics, Features, User Stories, and Acceptance Criteria.
  • Collaborate with Product Management, stakeholders, architects, and engineering teams to maximize business and mission value.
  • Define and evolve platform capabilities supporting:
  • Multi-tenant platform services
  • Organization portals
  • Platform access experiences
  • User and organization onboarding
  • Role-based access concepts
  • Custom approval workflows
  • Work closely with engineering teams to ensure user stories are technically feasible, testable, and aligned with architectural direction.
  • Balance customer needs, technical debt, security enhancements, architectural improvements, and operational priorities when managing the Product Backlog.
  • Participate in Sprint Planning, Backlog Refinement, Sprint Reviews, Sprint Retrospectives, and Product Demonstrations.
  • Accept completed work based upon established Acceptance Criteria and Definition of Done.
  • Collaborate with Scrum Masters to ensure healthy backlog management, sprint readiness, and predictable product delivery.
  • Engage regularly with customers and stakeholders to gather feedback, validate priorities, and refine product direction.
  • Measure product success through customer value, operational effectiveness, adoption, and business outcomes.
  • Champion Agile principles and continuous improvement across the product team.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience serving as a Product Owner, Product Manager, or similar product leadership role within Agile Scrum environments.
  • Demonstrated success owning complex enterprise software or platform products.
  • Expert knowledge of Agile Scrum principles and Product Ownership responsibilities.
  • Extensive experience creating and managing Product Vision, Product Roadmaps, Product Backlogs, Epics, Features, User Stories, and Acceptance Criteria
  • Experience working directly with highly technical engineering teams.
  • Excellent written, verbal, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and prioritization skills.
  • Travel: 10 %
  • An active DoD Secret clearance is required to perform this work. Candidates are required to have an active Secret clearance upon hire (or the ability to obtain), and the ability to maintain this level of clearance during their employment. Active Secret or Top Secret clearance preferred.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or related discipline.
