Job description

We are seeking a talented and motivated Mechanical Design Engineer to join a growing engineering team focused on the design and development of custom automated equipment, assembly machinery, and industrial automation systems. This position is responsible for taking projects from concept through production release while working closely with project engineers, manufacturing teams, controls engineers, and customers., Mechanical Design & Development

  • Design and develop custom automated assembly equipment, industrial machinery, and automation systems utilizing Creo Parametric.
  • Create mechanical concepts, layouts, detailed assemblies, and production-ready designs from initial requirements through final release.
  • Develop innovative design solutions that meet customer specifications, project requirements, and manufacturing objectives.
  • Perform engineering calculations, tolerance stack-up analysis, component sizing, and mechanical evaluations to support design decisions.

Documentation & Engineering Deliverables

  • Create detailed manufacturing drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), specifications, and engineering documentation.
  • Maintain accurate design documentation, revision histories, and engineering change records using Windchill PDM/PLM.
  • Ensure compliance with GD&T standards and established engineering drawing practices.
  • Support design reviews and implement revisions based on project and customer feedback.

Project Support & Collaboration

  • Participate in formal design reviews with project engineers, customers, and cross-functional teams.
  • Collaborate closely with manufacturing, controls engineering, systems integration, suppliers, and procurement teams.
  • Support prototype builds, equipment testing, troubleshooting activities, system validation, and customer demonstrations.
  • Assist with installation, startup, and commissioning activities as needed.

Continuous Improvement

  • Evaluate designs for manufacturability, reliability, cost-effectiveness, and serviceability.
  • Apply Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles to improve product quality and production efficiency.
  • Contribute to process improvements and engineering best practices.

Requirements

Do you have experience in Product lifecycle management?, The ideal candidate will have experience designing automated machinery, special-purpose equipment, or industrial automation systems and possess strong CAD skills utilizing Creo. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to innovative automation solutions in a collaborative, fast-paced engineering environment., * Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Minimum of 3 years of mechanical design experience in one or more of the following:
  • Custom automation
  • Automated assembly systems
  • Industrial machinery
  • Robotics
  • Special-purpose equipment
  • Proficiency with Creo Parametric preferred.
  • Candidates with strong experience using SolidWorks will also be considered.
  • Experience utilizing Windchill PDM/PLM or similar product data management systems.
  • Strong understanding of:
  • Mechanical machine design
  • Automated assembly equipment
  • Pneumatic systems
  • Motion control components
  • System integration
  • Design for Manufacturability (DFM)
  • GD&T and engineering drawing standards
  • Ability to independently execute complete machine designs with minimal supervision.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience designing robotic automation systems or assembly equipment.
  • Experience supporting equipment build, testing, and commissioning activities.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, machining, fabrication, and assembly methods.
  • Experience working within project-based engineering environments.
  • Familiarity with industrial safety standards and machine design requirements.
