Job description

You're the person people find when something stops working. A laptop won't connect, Microsoft 365 is acting up, a printer fails, or a conference room setup needs to work before people walk in.

Magellan Financial is hiring an IT Help Desk I in Topeka for a hands-on internal support role. The title says Help Desk I, but we're open to a newer IT candidate with strong fundamentals, as well as someone who's already handled desktop support, help desk, school IT, field tech, MSP, repair, or internal office support work, and knows how to get things moving again.

This is a full-time, in-office support seat for the people who keep Magellan's advisor platform, operations, marketing, recruiting, events, and annuity workflows moving. You'll be close to the users, the equipment, and the office's daily rhythm, so you'll see the difference between a quick workaround and a fix that actually makes tomorrow easier.

What you'll work on:

  • Troubleshoot Windows 10/11, Microsoft 365, user accounts, workstations, peripherals, printers, and office A/V.
  • Image, deploy, repair, upgrade, and set up PCs and desk technology cleanly.
  • Respond to support requests with clear notes, good judgment, and smart escalation.
  • Help nontechnical teammates without making them feel talked down to.
  • Build trust by closing loops, documenting fixes, and keeping the office running.

The fundamentals matter here, but they aren't the ceiling. As quickly as you build trust/credibility, this role can place you near Microsoft administration, Azure AD/Entra ID, endpoint management, network equipment, server racks, cloud infrastructure, and small automation or scripting work. Printers, cables, imaging, account issues, and user communication are still part of the job, not chores beneath it.

You might be newer to IT, or you might already be the person everyone asks for help. Either way, you're practical, curious, patient, and comfortable being on-site in Topeka every day.

Requirements

Do you have experience in Windows support?, * Full-time in-office commitment to Topeka.

  • Practical experience with help desk, desktop support, hardware, networking, school IT, field tech, home-lab, repair, or adjacent support work.
  • Hands-on comfort with Windows, Microsoft 365, user accounts, hardware, printers, A/V, or basic network troubleshooting.
  • Patient communication, follow-through, and the judgment to escalate cleanly.

Preferred:

  • PC imaging, desktop builds or repairs, office hardware inventory, desk setups, or internal support experience.
  • Exposure to Azure AD / Entra ID, Microsoft 365 administration, endpoint management, PowerShell, scripting, network gear, or cloud concepts.
  • A clear reason you want an in-office Topeka role where support ownership can grow into broader infrastructure exposure.
