Job description

We are a collaborative enterprise applications organization dedicated to sustaining, improving, and modernizing the systems that keep mission operations running. Our focus is on delivering reliable, secure, and user-centered solutions through disciplined Operations & Maintenance (O&M) practices and agile delivery. We support a diverse portfolio of applications, ensuring continuity of service while enabling incremental enhancements, workflow improvements, and data-driven decision-making. Our teams work closely with product owners, developers, and mission stakeholders to maintain system stability, streamline processes, and ensure every application continues to meet evolving business needs. We are seeking an AI Developer to design, build, and support AI-driven features within our enterprise application ecosystem. This role will focus on implementing scalable AI services using Amazon Bedrock, AWS native vector-storage solutions (such as Amazon Aurora with vector support or S3-based vector indexing), and existing RDS MSSQL data assets and files stored in S3. The developer will create and maintain AI-enabled APIs, integrate .NET applications with Bedrock-hosted models, incorporate Retrieval-Augmented Generation, and build secure, well-engineered pipelines for embedding generation, vector similarity search, and AI-supported business workflows. The AI Developer will have strong experience with AI security and working with AI Ethics Councils. The AI Developer will work closely with product owners, application developers, architects, and mission stakeholders to identify automation opportunities, incorporate AI capabilities into O&M roadmaps, and ensure AI components remain reliable, scalable, and aligned with user needs. Responsibilities include developing new AI features, maintaining existing integrations, supporting incremental enhancements, providing nominal implementation timelines, presenting estimated cost proposals, and contributing to continuous improvement efforts across the portfolio.

AI Developer duties are as follows:

  • Build and support AI integrations using Amazon Bedrock, including model orchestration, prompt engineering, embedding workflows, and vector search solutions
  • Lead technical planning for AI-related O&M work, contributing to agile ceremonies and working with developers and database administrators, as necessary
  • Provide reporting, metrics, and performance analysis for AI components and automation features to support broader program visibility and data-driven decision-making
  • Ensure data is trackable for later metrics reporting to ensure the business impact is measurable
  • Ensure AI systems and enhancements align with portfolio-level architecture decisions, long-term modernization goals, and enterprise technology roadmaps
  • Monitor application and model-integration performance, ensuring service reliability through proactive issue detection, adherence to SLAs, and timely resolution of AI-related incidents
  • Provide cost analysis to the client and monitor the AI usage to remain under budget
  • Provide implementation timeline estimates
  • Work with the AI Ethics Council and security teams
  • Support the creation, documentation, and maintenance of AI development standards, model-governance practices, MLOps guidelines, and security-focused implementation patterns
  • Develop clear technical specifications for AI features, including API contracts, data-flow designs, integration patterns, and vector-store schemas
  • Translate business and mission needs into well-structured AI use cases, user stories, prompts, and acceptance criteria consumable by .NET engineering teams
  • Contribute to program-level execution through tracking of AI features, cross-team coordination, risk and dependency management, and clear communication with stakeholders

Requirements

Do you have experience in Systems integration?, * 2+ years of hands-on experience developing and deploying AI/ML solutions in production, including integration with cloud-hosted foundation models (preferably Amazon Bedrock)

  • Demonstrated experience implementing Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines end-to-end, including embedding generation, vector indexing, semantic search, and orchestration of retrieved context into model prompts
  • Strong experience building .NET applications and APIs that integrate with AI services, including Bedrock API calls, prompt-template handling, and secure service-to-service communication

Benefits & conditions

3.73.7 out of 5 stars Arlington, VA $91,300 - $184,900 a year
