Job description

The Chief Information Officer (CIO) serves as the senior Information Technology (IT) leader and a key partner to executive leadership. The CIO is responsible for defining and executing the College's IT vision, direction, and roadmap to support mission-driven goals, enhance teaching and learning, and strengthen operational effectiveness.

The CIO oversees all aspects of technology services, including enterprise systems, infrastructure, cybersecurity, data governance, and digital transformation initiatives, ensuring solutions are secure, innovative, and aligned with college priorities. This role requires a leader who is student-centered, mission-driven, and committed to using technology to enhance academic and administrative experience., * Define and implement a comprehensive IT direction aligned with American International College's mission, vision, and priorities.

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on emerging technologies, risks, and opportunities in higher education.
  • Establish and maintain IT governance structures, policies, and decision-making frameworks.
  • Lead college-wide digital transformation efforts to improve user experience, efficiency, and outcomes., * Oversee IT operations, including infrastructure, support services, and enterprise applications.
  • Develop and manage the IT budget, ensuring alignment with the College's priorities and measurable return on investment.
  • Manage vendor relationships, contracts, and service delivery performance., * Oversee the design, implementation, and management of enterprise systems, including:
  • Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)
  • Learning Management Systems (LMS)
  • Ensure the reliability, scalability, and security of infrastructure, including cloud services, networks, and end-user computing environments.
  • Direct enterprise application development and system integration across academic and administrative platforms.

Cybersecurity, Risk and Compliance

  • Provide executive oversight of cybersecurity, data protection, and privacy programs.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulations and standards (e.g., FERPA, HIPAA, GLBA, PCI DSS).
  • Lead risk management, incident response planning, disaster recovery, and business continuity efforts.
  • Coordinate internal and external audits related to IT and information security., * Partner with faculty and academic leadership to support instructional technology and digital learning innovation.
  • Collaborate with administrative departments to improve services and processes through the use of technology.
  • Support data-informed decision-making through analytics, reporting, and business intelligence initiatives.

Innovation and Continuous Improvement

  • Monitor emerging technologies and trends relevant to higher education.
  • Evaluate and implement new solutions that enhance teaching, learning, and administrative effectiveness.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, inclusion, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Act as a change leader to support adoption of new technologies and improved processes., * Maintain professional engagement with higher education organizations and industry leaders.
  • Support college initiatives such as audits, accreditation, grants, and reporting.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Do you have experience in Technology management?, Do you have a Bachelor's degree?, * Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, or a related field.

  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible IT leadership experience, including senior management roles.
  • Demonstrated experience managing enterprise IT systems, infrastructure, and cybersecurity in a higher education environment or similar complex organization.
  • Strong knowledge of:
  • Cloud computing platforms
  • Network architecture
  • Enterprise applications (SIS/ERP), Jenzabar experience preferred
  • Data governance and cybersecurity practices
  • Proven experience in planning, project execution, and IT policy development.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences.
  • Proven ability to lead teams, manage budgets, and build cross-functional partnerships.
  • Professional certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, PMP, ITIL).
