Founding Vice President of Engineering

We are seeking a Founding Vice President of Engineering to lead the technical vision, architecture, and execution of a next-generation AI-powered platform.

This is a rare opportunity to join as one of the first engineering leaders, working closely with the founders to build and scale a product from 0*1. The ideal candidate is a hands-on engineering leader who thrives in startup environments, enjoys solving complex technical challenges, and is passionate about building high-performing engineering teams.

You will own engineering strategy while remaining actively involved in coding, architecture, infrastructure, and product development.

Responsibilities

• Define and execute the technical vision and engineering roadmap.
• Architect, build, and scale the platform from prototype to production.
• Write production-quality code and stay actively involved in day-to-day engineering.
• Lead architecture decisions across frontend, backend, cloud infrastructure, and AI systems.
• Build scalable, secure, reliable, and high-performance distributed systems.
• Establish engineering best practices, including CI/CD, testing, code reviews, and release processes.
• Partner closely with Product, Design, and Founders to deliver customer-focused solutions.
• Drive platform reliability, observability, security, and performance.
• Mentor engineers and help build a high-performing engineering organization.
• Support enterprise customers by participating in technical discussions around architecture, security, and integrations.
• Leverage AI development tools to improve engineering productivity and development velocity.

Do you have experience in Web services design?, Do you have a Bachelor's degree?, * 15+ years of software engineering experience.

• Previous experience as a Founding Engineer, Founding CTO, First VP of Engineering, or senior engineering leader in an early-stage startup.
• Proven experience building and scaling products from 0*1.
• Strong full-stack development experience with modern JavaScript/TypeScript, React (or equivalent), and backend technologies such as Python, Go, or Node.js.
• Deep experience with AWS and/or GCP cloud platforms.
• Experience building scalable distributed systems and production infrastructure.
• Hands-on engineering leader who regularly writes production code.
• Strong experience with DevOps, CI/CD, software architecture, API design, and system performance optimization.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills.
• Strong product mindset with the ability to translate business goals into technical solutions.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field., * Experience building AI-powered products or platforms.
• Hands-on experience with LLMs, RAG, vector databases, agent frameworks, or AI infrastructure.
• Experience with consumer products that scaled to enterprise customers.
• Familiarity with SOC 2, HIPAA, ISO 27001, or other security and compliance standards.
• Experience contributing to open-source projects, technical blogs, or conference speaking.
