Job description
Segula Technologies is seeking an experienced Body-in-White (BIW) Design Release Engineer (DRE) to support the design, development, release, and launch of BIW systems for new vehicle programs. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with body structures, sheet metal components, closures, underbody, and structural assemblies, along with strong knowledge of product development and automotive launch processes.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design release and engineering of BIW components from concept through production.
- Develop and release CAD models, drawings, and BOMs using NX and Teamcenter.
- Manage engineering changes (ECR/ECO), part releases, and design documentation.
- Coordinate with design, CAE, manufacturing, quality, suppliers, and program teams to ensure successful product development.
- Support packaging studies, tolerance stack-ups, GD&T, and manufacturability reviews.
- Participate in design reviews, DFMEA, DVP&R, and APQP activities.
- Investigate and resolve design, manufacturing, and quality issues during prototype and production builds.
- Support vehicle launches, plant builds, and issue resolution.
- Ensure compliance with Stellantis engineering standards and program timing.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- 5+ years of automotive Body-in-White (BIW) engineering or Design Release experience.
- Experience with sheet metal stampings, welded assemblies, structural components, and body systems.
- Proficiency in Siemens NX and Teamcenter.
- Strong understanding of GD&T (ASME Y14.5), tolerance analysis, and manufacturing processes.
- Experience with engineering releases, BOM management, and change control.
- Knowledge of DFMEA, DVP&R, APQP, PPAP, and root cause analysis.
- Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Ability to support prototype builds, vehicle launches, and supplier development activities.
Qualifications
- Previous OEM BIW experience.
- Experience supporting vehicle launch activities.
- Knowledge of aluminum and high-strength steel body structures.
- Familiarity with Teamcenter workflows, Vis Mockup, and CAE integration.
