We're recruiting on behalf of a successful, well-established specialist recruitment business looking to strengthen its small, collaborative IT team with an experienced developer who enjoys working across the full software lifecycle. This is a varied role where approximately 80% of your time will be focused on development, databases and business systems, with the remaining time supporting users, troubleshooting technical issues and helping ensure critical systems continue to run smoothly. You'll work closely with stakeholders across the business, giving you the opportunity to influence how systems evolve and see the direct impact of the solutions you develop. What you'll be doing
- Developing, maintaining and optimising Microsoft SQL Server databases, stored procedures, views and reporting solutions.
- Enhancing and supporting Microsoft Access applications and VBA functionality.
- Investigating and resolving database, application and data-related issues.
- Designing and implementing improvements to database performance, reliability and efficiency.
- Working directly with users to understand business requirements and deliver practical technical solutions.
- Supporting business-critical applications and resolving technical issues when required.
- Contributing to system upgrades, integrations and ongoing technology improvement projects.
- Producing clear technical documentation and sharing knowledge within the team.

We're looking for someone with
- Strong commercial experience developing Microsoft SQL Server databases.
- Experience writing and optimising complex SQL queries, stored procedures and views.
- Experience of Microsoft Access and VBA development.
- Experience of C# development.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience supporting business applications in a commercial environment.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with both technical and non-technical colleagues.
- A proactive approach and the ability to manage a varied workload with minimal supervision.
It would be an advantage if you also have
- Experience with document management or electronic signature platforms such as Adobe eSign.
- Knowledge of system integration or process automation.
- Experience working within a small IT team where flexibility and collaboration are important., You'll enjoy solving problems, improving systems and taking ownership of your work. You're equally comfortable developing new functionality, optimising existing databases and working with colleagues across the business to understand their requirements. You'll enjoy variety, be naturally curious and take pride in delivering solutions that genuinely improve the way people work.
Benefits & conditions
- £50,000-£60,000 depending on experience
- Hybrid working (4 days office / 1 day home)
