Job description
We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our embedded delivery team at a high-profile, globally recognised consumer brand in London. This is an onshore, client-facing role where you will work closely with the client's technology and product teams, acting as a senior technical resource within an agile delivery environment.
You will be expected to hit the ground running, bring genuine technical depth, and operate with a high degree of autonomy - while being collaborative enough to work seamlessly alongside client stakeholders, third-party vendors.
What You'll Do
*Design, build and maintain scalable, production-grade software across web, API and data layers
*Take ownership of technical delivery end-to-end - from requirements through to deployment and support
*Integrate AI and automation capabilities into existing and new product workflows where appropriate
*Evaluate and adopt new tools, frameworks and technologies as the client's needs evolve
*Work closely with product owners and business stakeholders to translate requirements into robust technical solutions
*Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior engineers within the pod
*Participate in architecture discussions, code reviews and sprint ceremonies
*Identify and address technical debt proactively, balancing delivery pace with code quality
Requirements
Core Engineering
*8+ years of software engineering experience across the full stack
*Strong proficiency in at least two languages (e.g. Python, TypeScript, C#, Node.js) with genuine comfort picking up others
*Solid grounding in RESTful API design, microservices architecture, and cloud-native development (Azure preferred)
*Experience with CI/CD pipelines, containerisation (Docker/Kubernetes) and DevOps practices
*Strong SQL and working knowledge of NoSQL datastores
AI & Automation
*Hands-on experience integrating LLMs, AI APIs (OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, etc.) or ML models into production applications
*Familiarity with agentic frameworks, RAG pipelines, or AI-assisted workflow automation
*Ability to assess where AI genuinely adds value vs. where it's noise - and articulate that clearly to non-technical stakeholders
Adaptability & Mindset
*Demonstrable track record of picking up unfamiliar tech stacks quickly and delivering within them
*Comfortable with ambiguity - can operate without a fully defined spec and shape solutions collaboratively
*Client-facing confidence - able to present technical options clearly, push back when needed, and build trust with non-technical audiences
*Experience working in embedded or managed service delivery models a strong advantage
Nice to Have
*Hospitality, retail or consumer-facing platform experience
*Experience with Salesforce, MuleSoft or similar integration platforms
*Familiarity with Power Platform or low-code tooling alongside traditional engineering
*Prior experience in a consultancy or SI delivery environment
Benefits & conditions
*Embedded position at a globally recognised brand with a dynamic, fast-moving technology environment
*Exposure to a broad technology landscape with genuine scope to influence architecture and tooling decisions
*Competitive salary and benefits, backed by Espire's wider engineering and AI practice
