Senior Software Developer | Webigence and Spark Travel
Role details
Job location
Tech stack
Job description
-
Design, build, and maintain features across the stack: .NET / C# APIs, Angular / TypeScript front ends, SQL Server, Azure services, and related integrations.
-
Work on mission-critical Spark modules such as pricing, itinerary building, proposals, supplier workflows, automations, client portals, and operational tooling.
-
Contribute to selected long-standing Webigence client projects where needed, including mature business-critical systems outside Spark.
-
Investigate and diagnose issues properly across browser, API, application logs, Azure services, and database layers.
-
Write clean, maintainable, tested code that can be understood and supported by the wider team.
-
Work closely with Product, Design, QA, Customer Success, and other developers to turn complex requirements into intuitive software.
-
Contribute to technical discussions, challenge assumptions constructively, and help improve how we build and release software.
-
Use modern tooling sensibly, including CI/CD pipelines, Azure DevOps / GitHub Actions, Azure monitoring/logging tools, and AI-assisted development tools where appropriate.
-
Be comfortable working in a remote-first team where clear written communication, ownership, and self-direction matter.
Requirements
-
You have 6+ years of commercial software development experience, with strong hands-on C# / .NET experience.
-
You have built and supported modern web applications, ideally with Angular / TypeScript or another major JavaScript framework.
-
You are comfortable working across APIs, front-end code, data access, integrations, and production troubleshooting.
-
You can reason through a problem end-to-end: browser behaviour, API payloads, application logs, backend logic, Azure services, external integrations, and database state.
-
You understand good engineering principles, but you are pragmatic rather than dogmatic.
-
You can explain technical decisions clearly, including trade-offs, risks, and alternatives.
-
You care about usability and product quality, not just whether the code technically works.
-
You are happy being a hands-on individual contributor, while still supporting and improving the wider engineering team.
-
You have hands-on experience working with Azure, and ideally some experience configuring, managing, or troubleshooting Azure resources.
-
You understand that seniority means ownership, judgement, communication, and follow-through - not just years of experience.
A 1st-class or 2:1 degree in Computer Science or a closely related discipline is preferred.
What We're Looking For Technically
We are especially interested in developers who can show strength in several of the following areas:
-
C# / .NET 8+
-
Web API
-
Angular / TypeScript
-
SQL Server
-
Azure App Services, Azure Functions, Service Bus, Storage, Key Vault, Application Insights, or related Azure services
-
Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, CI/CD pipelines, and release processes
-
API integrations and webhook-based workflows
-
Automated testing and practical test strategy
-
Logging, monitoring, and production diagnostics
-
SaaS product development
-
Complex business workflows, pricing engines, rules engines, or operational systems
You do not need to be an expert in everything, but you do need to be genuinely hands-on and keen to keep improving. Azure experience is strongly preferred, especially where you have worked beyond simply deploying code and have been involved in configuring, diagnosing, or improving cloud-hosted systems.
