System Engineering Manager

We're seeking an experienced Systems Engineering Manager to lead multi-disciplinary teams delivering complex, high-impact technical projects. This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll drive engineering excellence across the full project lifecycle-ensuring delivery meets cost, schedule, and quality expectations.

The Role

You'll take ownership of engineering delivery across one or more projects, coordinating teams and ensuring a structured, robust systems engineering approach is applied throughout. Acting as a key interface between technical teams, stakeholders, and customers, you'll play a critical role in shaping successful project outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage engineering delivery across multiple projects

• Coordinate multi-disciplinary teams and allocate work packages effectively

• Ensure adherence to a structured systems engineering lifecycle

• Own engineering scope, schedule, budget, and risk management

• Oversee delivery of engineering artefacts to required quality and governance standards

• Identify, assess, and manage technical and delivery risks

• Support project planning, resourcing, and performance reporting

• Manage change, dependencies, and delivery priorities

• Act as the primary engineering point of contact for internal and external stakeholders

• Strong background in systems engineering across the full lifecycle

• Proven experience leading engineering teams (ideally 10+ people)

• Track record delivering complex, regulated, or safety-critical systems

• Solid understanding of project planning, estimation, and governance across the defence industry

• Confident engaging with customers, stakeholders, and suppliers

• Ability to balance technical oversight with delivery leadership
