Job description
We're seeking an experienced Systems Engineering Manager to lead multi-disciplinary teams delivering complex, high-impact technical projects. This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll drive engineering excellence across the full project lifecycle-ensuring delivery meets cost, schedule, and quality expectations.
The Role
You'll take ownership of engineering delivery across one or more projects, coordinating teams and ensuring a structured, robust systems engineering approach is applied throughout. Acting as a key interface between technical teams, stakeholders, and customers, you'll play a critical role in shaping successful project outcomes.
Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage engineering delivery across multiple projects

Coordinate multi-disciplinary teams and allocate work packages effectively

Ensure adherence to a structured systems engineering lifecycle

Own engineering scope, schedule, budget, and risk management

Oversee delivery of engineering artefacts to required quality and governance standards

Identify, assess, and manage technical and delivery risks

Support project planning, resourcing, and performance reporting

Manage change, dependencies, and delivery priorities

Act as the primary engineering point of contact for internal and external stakeholders
Requirements

Strong background in systems engineering across the full lifecycle

Proven experience leading engineering teams (ideally 10+ people)

Track record delivering complex, regulated, or safety-critical systems

Solid understanding of project planning, estimation, and governance across the defence industry

Confident engaging with customers, stakeholders, and suppliers

Ability to balance technical oversight with delivery leadership
