Under the general direction of the department chair, the Educational Technology Specialist will support the Physician Assistant (PA) Program within the College of Health Sciences (CHS) division by serving as the program's primary technical resource and superuser for all educational, assessment, and admissions software platforms. This role ensures smooth operation of ExamSoft, Elentra, Slate, and related educational systems; providing training, troubleshooting, and optimization to faculty, staff, and students. In addition, the Educational Technology Specialist acts as the program's social media liaison, overseeing content creation, branding alignment, and messaging across digital platforms. The position also provides general administrative support to ensure efficient program operations. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of:
- Independent systems administration, analytics, reporting, and process improvement.
- Knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, spreadsheets, databases, presentation technologies.
- Social media platforms and content creation norms., * Serve as the superuser and primary point of contact for:
- ExamSoft (assessment creation, exam deployment, reporting, analytics)
- Elentra (learning management system administration, course setup, gradebook management)
- Slate (admissions platform configuration, applicant data management, workflow support)
- Provide technical training and onboarding for faculty, staff, and students on all platforms.
- Troubleshoot system issues, coordinate with vendors or institutional IT as needed, and ensure timely resolution.
- Maintain system documentation, user guides, and standard operating procedures.
- Support digital exam administration, including exam setup, proctoring logistics, and post-exam data review.
- Assist with data integrity, reporting, and analytics to support accreditation, program evaluation, and continuous quality improvement.
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls in accordance with institutional policies.
Key Responsibilities Social Media & Digital Communications:
- Serve as the social media liaison for the PA Program.
- Develop, schedule, and publish content across approved platforms (e.g., Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook).
- Ensure messaging aligns with institutional branding, professionalism standards, and program goals.
- Track engagement metrics and recommend strategies to enhance visibility and outreach.
- Collaborate with faculty, staff, and students to highlight program achievements, events, and community engagement.
Key Responsibilities Administrative & Program Support:
- Provide general administrative support to the PA Program Director, faculty, and staff, as needed.
- Support accreditation activities by organizing digital files,
- preparing reports, and maintaining compliance documentation.
- Support digital program communications, including newsletters, announcements, and student/faculty updates.
- Assist with technology onboarding processes for new students and faculty.
- Maintain inventory of program technology resources and coordinate repairs or replacements as needed., Instructional Support:
- Provide technical instructional design assistance
- Assist faculty with digital teaching platforms and multimedia integration., Process Improvement:
- Identify opportunities to streamline workflows and improve user experience across platforms.
- Participate in committees or workgroups related to technology, curriculum, or student services.
Key Responsibilities Data & Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with FERPA, HIPAA, and data security standards while supporting outcomes, assessment, accreditation data collection, and survey-based program evaluation., While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to use hands to operate a PC in the performance of job duties, and talk or hear. The employee is regularly required to sit, and reach with hands and arms, and occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop, and smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds. Requirements
- Organizational skills to prioritize workload to meet long and short-term deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated technical proficiency, strong attention to detail, commitment to accuracy, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in document formatting and data management tasks (e.g., mail merge); strong general digital literacy (typing ~55 wpm)
- Experience using a scanner, calculator, fax machine, copy machine, and telephone operation.

- Maintain flexibility in responding to rapidly changing priorities to meet department / college / university needs., * Bachelors degree in Information Technology, Education Technology, Computer Science, Software or Network Engineering, Communications, or related field; or equivalent experience.
- 2-3 years of educational technology systems administration and/or Learning Management System (LMS) support experience; or experience in a work-related field., * Prior work experience in health professions education, higher education setting, or simulation-based learning environments.
- Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and educational software.
- Experience with data analytics, dashboard development, or educational reporting systems.
