Job description
The Data Management Specialist ensures accurate, timely data collection and analysis to support SCACAP's Nutrition & Healthy Eating Grant initiatives for Head Start/Early Head Start programs across South Carolina. If you excel at turning data into evidence-based insights for program improvement, this grant-funded role offers an opportunity to directly impact child and family outcomes., * Develop, manage, and maintain systems for collecting and organizing nutrition and health program data
- Ensure the accuracy, integrity, and confidentiality of all program records and reports
- Train and support staff on data collection procedures
- Analyze data to identify trends, measure progress, and report outcomes to leadership and stakeholders
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports, including dashboards and data visualizations
- Ensure compliance with Head Start standards, grant requirements, and SCACAP policies
- Collaborate across departments to track outcomes, share insights, and strengthen service delivery
Requirements
- Bachelor's in Public Health, Data Science, Statistics, Social Science, Program Evaluation, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- At least 2 years' experience in data management, analysis, and reporting in a health, education, or community services setting
- Proficient in Excel, Google Workspace, database platforms; experience with visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) a plus
- Excellent analytical, writing, and presentation skills
- Able to work independently, meet deadlines, and manage sensitive data with discretion
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for occasional travel in South Carolina
- Preferred: Experience with Head Start/EHS systems (e.g., ChildPlus), knowledge of nutrition/public health metrics, background in program evaluation, * Data accuracy & integrity

$40,000 - $50,000 a year - Temporary, * Primarily office-based; opportunities for hybrid/fieldwork
