Job description

You'll be a core engineer behind our AI care companion: the mobile app, dashboard, APIs, and the cloud infrastructure and pipelines that put our LLM agents in front of patients reliably. You won't own all of it alone: you'll work closely with the founder and the rest of the team, taking clear ownership of frontend and product surfaces first, and growing into more of the stack as you ramp.

Our applied-AI and linguistics specialists shape how the AI talks; your job is to turn their work into solid, production-grade software and keep it running.

What You Will Do

  • Build and maintain the mobile app, dashboard, and UI surfaces that patients and care teams use.
  • Integrate our production LLM conversational agents into the product, working with our AI and linguistics specialists to take the prompts and dialogue logic they design and make them run reliably. The product operates in multiple languages (English, Spanish, Korean, Cantonese, Mandarin, and more); the engineering challenge is reliability across them, not speaking any of them.
  • Contribute to the evaluation and QA pipelines that let us measure and protect conversational quality.
  • Wire frontend surfaces to backend services, third-party APIs, and cloud infrastructure (AWS).
  • Respond quickly to bugs and issues as they arise; we keep a tight, fast feedback loop.
  • Bring a customer mindset to UI/UX decisions, and turn patient and care-team feedback into shipped improvements, fast., Most early-career engineering jobs hand you a slice of someone else's system. This one is different. Joining our team early, you would build and run the systems that put our AI care companion in front of patients, learning directly from a team with real depth in healthcare, AI, and clinical practice.
  • Real production, real stakes. Our AI speaks with elderly patients every day and helps their care teams catch what matters. This is not a demo. It runs in a live clinical setting, in multiple languages.
  • Outsized ownership. On a team this small, what you build ships. You will own real surfaces of the product and the infrastructure behind it, with a clear path to owning more of the engineering as we grow.
  • A genuinely hard, meaningful problem. Shipping AI that converses warmly with seniors, reliably, in multiple languages, in a setting where correctness matters, is one of the more interesting engineering problems in applied AI today.

Who You Would Work With

A small, deep team; deliberately senior for our size:

  • Founder / CEO: a repeat healthcare-AI builder with an MBA in healthcare management and graduate training in healthcare data science, who has previously led a U.S. healthcare venture and a consumer health product; the clinically grounded way we build is in the company's DNA.
  • Engineering: AI-focused PhDs from Caltech, alongside experienced engineers who have shipped production systems.
  • AI & linguistics: applied-AI and linguistics specialists who lead how our AI converses with patients.
  • AI advisor: an AI leader who built and led AI initiatives at big-tech health divisions.
  • Medical advisor: a former American Medical Association executive, currently a professor at a top academic medical center.
  • Geriatrics advisor: a practicing geriatrician trained in geriatrics at a top medical school.
  • Health-system advisor: a former executive at one of the largest U.S. health systems.

What You Would Own

  • The mobile app, dashboard, and UI surfaces that patients and care teams use.
  • Integrating our production LLM agents into the product and keeping them running reliably across English, Spanish, Korean, Cantonese, Mandarin, and more.
  • The evaluation and QA pipelines that measure and protect conversational quality.
  • Frontend-to-backend and API wiring, and the cloud infrastructure (AWS) behind it.

Who Thrives Here

  • Engineers who take ownership without being told what to do, and who care how the product feels for a non-technical, elderly user.
  • Builders who want to learn fast from senior people and grow into a much bigger role.
  • People genuinely drawn to the mission of caring for older adults, not just "AI in healthcare" as a category.

Requirements

  • Ability to build and support full-stack software end to end (app, dashboard, APIs, and cloud). This is the core of the role.
  • Solid frontend development skills (web and/or mobile), and comfort wiring APIs and backend services.
  • Comfort working with LLM-based systems as an engineer: your main focus is integrating, evaluating, and operationalizing them, with the chance to contribute to prompt and agent design alongside the specialists who lead that work.
  • Productive, disciplined use of AI coding tools: you use them to ship faster, but review their output as carefully as you'd review a teammate's PR. In a healthcare setting, getting it right matters more than getting it quick.
  • Strong empathy for non-technical and elderly users, and an instinct to simplify.
  • Self-directed ownership: a track record of building or fixing things nobody asked you to.
  • A reliable, conscientious team player who communicates well and collaborates closely in a small team.
  • Full-time commitment and genuine investment in the company's mission.
  • Early-career experience, or an exceptional portfolio of shipped work.

Nice to Have

  • Familiarity with our stack (Python, FastAPI, Postgres, React, AWS) or the eagerness to learn it fast.
  • Hands-on experience shipping LLM features to production (not just experimenting with them) voice or conversational AI projects.
  • Mobile development experience: iOS, Android, or both.
  • Exposure to cloud, CI/CD, GitHub workflows, or testing.
  • Interest in healthcare, or comfort in a domain where correctness really matters.
