Job description
We are seeking an Embedded Software Engineer II to join our growing product development team. This role is responsible for designing, developing, testing, and maintaining embedded firmware, desktop software, and mobile applications for innovative medical devices.
The successful candidate will work closely with cross-functional engineering teams to support the full product lifecycle - from concept and prototyping through verification, validation, manufacturing, and product release - in a regulated medical device environment., * Develop a thorough understanding of Biotex medical devices, system architecture, and product requirements.
- Design, develop, debug, and maintain embedded firmware for medical device platforms.
- Develop and support desktop and mobile applications used for device configuration, diagnostics, and data management.
- Create prototypes for next-generation medical devices and evaluate new technologies through laboratory testing.
- Collaborate with Electrical, Mechanical, Quality, Manufacturing, and Regulatory teams throughout product development.
- Develop software using Agile development methodologies.
- Perform software integration, debugging, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis.
- Develop and execute software verification and validation (V&V) activities, including unit and integration testing.
- Maintain software documentation including requirements, design specifications, traceability, and revision history.
- Support engineering changes, software updates, production testing, and released products.
- Participate in design reviews, code reviews, and risk management activities.
- Research and recommend improvements to software architecture, development processes, and product functionality.
Requirements
- Master's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience developing embedded software/firmware using C/C++.
- Experience with microcontrollers, embedded processors, or RTOS.
- Experience developing desktop and/or mobile software applications.
- Knowledge of software architecture, debugging, and version control systems.
- Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development environment.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Medical device or other regulated industry experience.
- Knowledge of IEC 62304, ISO 13485, ISO 14971, and FDA Design Controls.
- Experience with Bluetooth/BLE, Wi-Fi, NFC, or other communication protocols.
- Experience with Git, Jira, Bitbucket, and Confluence.
- Experience with automated testing, cybersecurity, and connected devices.
