Job description

  • Design high-availability and disaster recovery architectures for physical and virtualized federal environments.
  • Lead the technical design of data center consolidation and modernization efforts for cabinet-level agencies.
  • Collaborate with security teams to ensure physical and virtual infrastructure meets NIST 800-53 and FISMA High standards.
  • Develop technical specifications for hardware procurement and facility power/cooling requirements.
  • Engineer hybrid-cloud connectivity architectures linking physical data centers to GovCloud environments.
  • Provide technical oversight for the implementation of hyper-converged infrastructure (HCI) solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Systems Engineering, or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in data center operations and infrastructure design.
  • 5+ years of experience designing secure infrastructures for federal or highly regulated organizations.
  • Deep expertise in VMware, Hyper-V, and storage technologies (NetApp, Dell/EMC).

Preferred Certifications

  • Federal & Security: CISSP.
  • Domain-Specific: VMware Certified Design Expert (VCDX) or NetApp Certified Data Administrator.
  • Architecture/Management: TOGAF.

Technical Skills

  • Virtualization: VMware vSphere, ESXi, NSX, vSAN.
  • Storage: SAN/NAS architectures, Fibre Channel, iSCSI.
  • Networking: Cisco ACI, software-defined data centers (SDDC).
  • Hardware: Blade servers, HCI platforms (Nutanix, Dell VxRail).

Regulatory & Domain Expertise

  • Demonstrated expertise in applying NIST 800-53 physical and logical security controls.
  • Technical implementation of FISMA High requirements for on-premises data centers.
  • Knowledge of ICD 705 standards for secure facility (SCIF) operations.

Clearance Requirement

  • Active security clearance (Secret or Top Secret)
