Job description

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Planning & Preparation: Coordinate recruitment activities and prepare materials for classes and events, including food purchasing and preparation.
  • Teaching: Deliver engaging nutrition education to diverse audiences, adapting to participant needs and learning environments.
  • Data & Reporting: Maintain accurate records, complete evaluations, and submit timely data and reports.
  • Recruitment & Outreach: Build and maintain partnerships with community organizations and recruit participants through events, presentations, and outreach efforts., External candidates, upload all documents in the "Application Document" section of your application. Background Check: This position has been designated by the department to require a background check because it requires access to children or vulnerable adults as defined by RCW 74.34, engages in law enforcement, requires security clearance, interacts with WSU students in a counseling or advising capacity, has access to personal identifying and/or financial information, unsupervised access to university buildings/property, or other business-related need. Requirements

  • Be confident and engaging when teaching and facilitating group learning activities.
  • Build strong relationships with diverse communities and effectively recruit and retain participants.
  • Demonstrate excellent organization, time management, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Reflect the communities they serve, including shared or relevant lived experience, * Six months of full-time experience/training in the appropriate discipline; OR equivalent education/experience.
  • Experience working with food and nutrition in an educational setting.
  • Ability to work a flexible, yet structured schedule with occasional night and weekend shifts to meet the needs of program partners and grant requirements.
  • Must have the ability to travel within targeted counties, including overnight (for occasional trainings, paid for by WSU).
  • Reliable transportation (mileage reimbursed) year-round.
  • Must have, or be able to obtain by time of hire, a valid driver's license and meet requirements in accordance with SPPM 7.10 and departmental driving standards.
  • Ability to obtain within 14 days of hire and maintain a current Washington State Food Workers Card.
  • Ability to organize materials for classes., * Experience planning and delivering education to youth and adults in nutrition, family and consumer sciences, life skills, or a closely related field.
  • Computer skills, including Microsoft office, Outlook, Zoom, data entry software, or willingness and ability to learn.
  • Ability to work well with other people and diverse program participants.
  • Ability to keep written or digital logs of activities and complete reports.

Benefits & conditions

This is a full time (100% FTE), permanent position. This position is overtime eligible.

Monthly Salary: $3,495 to $ 4,653 | Range 39 Steps A - M | Successful candidates are typically hired at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with WAC 357-28.

In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate's current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.
