Job description
Our client, a leading retail organization, is seeking an Infrastructure Security Engineer to join their Digital Infrastructure and Security team. This role is responsible for designing, securing, automating, and optimizing highly available cloud and edge infrastructure that supports large-scale digital commerce platforms. The ideal candidate brings a blend of infrastructure engineering, network security, DevOps automation, and cloud expertise, with a strong focus on security, reliability, and performance. This is a contract position located in Issaquah, Washington, Chicago, Illinois, or Plano, Texas.
Core Responsibilities
- Design, build, secure, and maintain highly available hybrid-cloud infrastructure across cloud and on-premises environments
- Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using Terraform and related automation frameworks
- Build, optimize, and support CI/CD pipelines to automate infrastructure deployments, application releases, and testing
- Configure and manage edge security technologies including WAFs, CDNs, DNS, load balancers, SSL/TLS, and traffic management solutions
- Monitor infrastructure health, application performance, and security events using observability and monitoring platforms
- Investigate and remediate security vulnerabilities, performance bottlenecks, and infrastructure reliability issues
- Lead large-scale infrastructure and security initiatives while collaborating with architects, product teams, developers, and operations stakeholders
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in Infrastructure Engineering, DevOps, Network Engineering, or related disciplines
- Strong hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
- Expertise with Infrastructure as Code (IaC), including Terraform
- Experience building and maintaining modern CI/CD pipelines
- Strong networking fundamentals including DNS, routing, firewalls, load balancing, VPNs, and network security concepts
- Experience managing Web Application Firewalls (WAF), Content Delivery Networks (CDN), and edge security solutions
- Proficiency with GitHub, source control best practices, and developer productivity tools such as GitHub Copilot
- Experience with SQL, KQL, JQL, or similar query for troubleshooting, analytics, and investigations
- Experience supporting production environments with high availability and uptime requirements
- Strong understanding of security principles, threat mitigation, and secure infrastructure operations, * Experience within eCommerce, digital commerce, or customer-facing web environments
- Multi-cloud and/or hybrid infrastructure experience including Azure and on-premises environments
- Experience with Fastly, Akamai, or similar CDN and edge platforms
- Knowledge of edge configurations, VCL logic, and CDN routing behavior
- Experience with bot mitigation, fraud prevention, and edge protection technologies
- Familiarity with packet analysis tools such as Wireshark and deep packet inspection concepts
- Experience with Dynatrace, Splunk, or enterprise observability platforms
- Knowledge of compliance frameworks including PCI, SOX, privacy regulations, and audit processes
- Experience with application performance tuning, disaster recovery, and high-availability architectures

Benefits & conditions
- Pay Range: The approximate pay range for this position is between $150,000 - $190,000. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to background, knowledge, skills, and location. We comply with local wage minimums.
