Job description
New Hope Fertility Center is seeking a highly skilled, proactive, and hands-on Mid-level Systems Administrator (Healthcare IT) to serve as the primary IT resource for our organization. This individual will be responsible for maintaining and supporting all technology systems across the practice, including end-user support, server and network administration, cybersecurity, Google Workspace administration, proprietary EMR support, and coordination with internal and external software development teams.
The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise, excellent communication skills, and a proven ability to independently manage IT operations in a healthcare environment. This role requires someone who can effectively support both clinical and administrative teams while ensuring technology systems remain secure, reliable, and efficient.
This is a hands-on role that requires both strategic thinking and strong execution capabilities.
Key ResponsibilitiesIT Help Desk & End-User Support
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all IT-related support requests.
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, network, printer, scanner, phone, and peripheral device issues.
- Install, configure, and maintain desktops, laptops, monitors, printers, phones, conference room equipment, and other technology assets.
- Provide timely and professional technical support to physicians, nurses, embryologists, laboratory personnel, administrative staff, and management.
- Manage employee onboarding and offboarding, including account setup, access permissions, and equipment deployment.
- Maintain IT asset inventories and documentation.
Systems Administration
- Administer and maintain Windows Server environments and related infrastructure.
- Manage Active Directory, Group Policies, DNS, DHCP, file sharing systems, and user permissions.
- Monitor server performance, storage capacity, and system health.
- Perform software updates, security patching, system upgrades, and maintenance.
- Manage virtualization platforms such as VMware and/or Hyper-V.
- Ensure proper backup and disaster recovery procedures are implemented and tested regularly.
Network Administration
- Maintain and support wired and wireless network infrastructure.
- Configure and troubleshoot firewalls, switches, routers, VPNs, and internet connectivity.
- Monitor network performance, availability, and security.
- Coordinate with internet service providers and technology vendors when necessary.
Healthcare Technology & EMR Support
- Support and maintain the clinic's proprietary EMR system and related applications.
- Troubleshoot EMR access, workflow, integration, and performance issues.
- Coordinate with software developers regarding enhancements, bug fixes, updates, and system deployments.
- Participate in software testing, implementation, and validation processes.
- Ensure appropriate access controls and data security measures are maintained.
Google Workspace Administration
- Administer Google Workspace, including:
- Gmail
- Google Groups
- Google Drive
- Shared Drives
- Google Calendar
- User Accounts and Permissions
- Security Policies and Access Controls
- Manage the organization's Google Business Profile and related services.
Cybersecurity & Compliance
- Maintain HIPAA-compliant technology and security practices.
- Implement and manage multi-factor authentication (MFA), endpoint protection, and security monitoring tools.
- Conduct routine security reviews and vulnerability assessments.
- Ensure proper backup, retention, and recovery procedures are maintained.
- Assist with compliance audits and documentation requirements.
- Monitor and respond to cybersecurity threats and incidents.
Vendor & Project Management
- Manage relationships with IT vendors, software providers, telecommunications providers, and technology consultants.
- Coordinate hardware procurement, software licensing, and technology upgrades.
- Evaluate and recommend technology solutions that improve efficiency, security, and scalability.
- Maintain accurate technical documentation and standard operating procedures.
- Independently manage IT projects from planning through execution and completion.
Communication, Training & Execution Responsibilities
- Effectively communicate IT issues, project status, risks, and recommendations to management in a clear and professional manner.
- Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, embryologists, laboratory personnel, administrative teams, and management to understand operational needs and technology requirements.
- Translate business and clinical requirements into practical technical solutions.
- Conduct thorough root-cause analysis and troubleshooting rather than implementing temporary fixes.
- Develop and execute long-term solutions that improve operational efficiency and system reliability.
- Provide user training and ongoing education on software systems, cybersecurity awareness, and technology best practices.
- Create and maintain user guides, training materials, and standard operating procedures.
- Proactively identify technology risks, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement before they impact operations.
- Demonstrate strong execution skills by driving projects, initiatives, and problem resolution through completion.
- Provide regular updates to management regarding open issues, ongoing projects, system performance, and recommended improvements.
- Ensure timely follow-up and resolution of all assigned tasks and support requests.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field preferred.
- Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of Systems Administration experience.
- Minimum 3 years supporting healthcare organizations, medical practices, hospitals, laboratories, or healthcare technology environments.
- Experience supporting EMR/EHR systems required.
- Experience supporting multi-site operations preferred.
- Experience serving as the primary or sole IT administrator for an organization strongly preferred.
