Job description
As a member of a Federal Government Cyber Security Team, the Systems Engineer will assist in providing support for network security engineering and the engineering/integration and deployment of networking security technologies to support advanced external threat, insider threat, and cyber operations as well as Trusted Internet Connections., * Perform preventative maintenance on network gear including switches, routers and firewalls
- Install software patches, updates, and upgrades to switches, routers and firewalls
- Monitor network traffic and optimize network performance
- Work closely with security team to harden security layers
- Ability to manage DMZ's, which are used to provide shared services
- Design, evaluate and implement DNS Security
- Design, evaluate and implement Virtual Private Networking (VPN's)
- Design, evaluate and implement Web proxy technology
- Design, evaluate and implement SSL encryption/decryption
- Help define overall security strategies and procedures
- Define and refine firewall policies
- Develop and implement network intrusion detection strategies
- Work with the rest of the operations team to monitor stability and performance and ensure 24x7 operation
- Monitor vendor and 3rd party security reports/lists and proactively patch vulnerabilities
- Perform security reviews and audits Security Engineers by reviewing designs for security issues
- Assist in the evaluation of new and emerging products and technologies
Requirements
- BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent
- 10+ years of experience in an information / network security role at companies with large networks
- 8+ years of experience with AWS and/or other cloud platforms
- Qualys experience
- Strong BigFix experience
- SCCM experience
- Strong background in system or network administration
- Strong knowledge of multi-factor / strong authentication technologies and how to implement them in heterogeneous environments
- Expertise with security technologies and issues on both Unix and Windows
- Ability to read source code in several languages to scan for security vulnerabilities
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Strong Virtualization experience
- Experience with DISA STIGs and/or CIS standards preferred
- Splunk and Tenable Nessus for vulnerability and compliance scanning

Pay: $130,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year, * 401(k)
