Job description

The IT Field Technician is responsible for traveling to client locations to perform computer deployments, hardware installations, troubleshooting, office technology projects, and onsite support. You will work closely with our remote help desk and senior engineers to complete projects efficiently while maintaining a professional appearance and excellent customer relationships.

This is primarily an onsite field position with travel throughout San Diego County.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Install and deploy desktop computers, laptops, monitors, printers, and peripherals.
  • Perform workstation replacements, upgrades, and new employee setups.
  • Install and configure Windows workstations and Microsoft 365 applications.
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, printer, and basic network connectivity issues.
  • Perform onsite troubleshooting that cannot be resolved remotely.
  • Rack and mount networking equipment, firewalls, switches, wireless access points, and other hardware.
  • Mount televisions, monitors, and related equipment.
  • Perform cable management and maintain clean, professional installations.
  • Assist with office moves, equipment relocations, and technology refresh projects.
  • Collect site information, take photos, and document network layouts for future projects.
  • Work with senior engineers during larger network and infrastructure deployments.
  • Communicate professionally with clients and provide exceptional customer service.
  • Document completed work accurately in our ticketing system.
  • Maintain company standards for quality, organization, and professionalism.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of IT support or field technician experience.
  • Strong Windows 10 and Windows 11 troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience installing desktop computers, laptops, monitors, and printers.
  • Basic understanding of networking (IP addressing, switches, routers, Wi-Fi).
  • Experience with Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Valid California driver's license with reliable transportation.
  • Ability to travel to client sites throughout San Diego County.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Professional appearance and positive attitude.

Preferred

  • Experience working for a Managed Service Provider (MSP).
  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365 administration.
  • Basic knowledge of Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID.
  • Experience installing firewalls, wireless access points, and network switches.
  • Experience with structured cabling and cable management.
  • Experience with Fortinet, Ubiquiti, or similar networking equipment.
  • CompTIA A+ or Network+ certification.
