Job description
Polaris Windows & Doors is seeking candidates for a Routing Specialist. This position is responsible for designing, optimizing, and managing transportation and delivery routes to ensure efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and timely delivery of windows and doors. This role is crucial for ensuring that delivery operations run smoothly and that customers receive their products on time, contributing to overall business success., The position will be responsible for essential job duties including, but not limited to:
- Develop and optimize delivery routes to ensure timely and efficient service
- Monitor and adjust routes based on real time data and customer needs using software to analyze shipping options with a seasonal product line, while reducing fuel consumption
- Analyze driver performance and provide feedback to improve delivery times and service quality
- Build and maintain relationships with customers along the routes, addressing any concerns or requests to enhance customer satisfaction
- Update customers on deliveries in real time
- Utilize logistics data to identify trends and areas for improvement in route efficiency and effectiveness
- Implement software program to help determine best routes
- Assist in training new drivers and provide ongoing support to ensure compliance with company policies and safety regulations
- Keep a current database of customer contacts at each ship to location
- Find ways to back-haul manufacturing materials used in the production process
- Back-up the Polaris Fleet Manager in achieving Transportation department goals
Requirements
- Previous experience in logistics, transportation, or a related field is preferred
- Experience with DOT regulations, fleet operations, and transportation compliance practices
- Strong analytical skills and computer skills to efficiently plan and optimize travel routes
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Knowledge of transportation management software
- Effective verbal and written communication skills and problem-solving abilities
