Roles of this type may sit within cross-functional teams, collaborating with stakeholders across business, analytics and technology to ensure data flows reliably, securely and at the scale our operations demand.What you would doTypical responsibilities could include:
- Designing, building and maintaining data pipelines and infrastructure using cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS or GCP
- Developing and optimising data processing solutions using Python, Java or SQL to support analytical and operational needs
- Implementing and managing containerised environments using Docker and Kubernetes to ensure scalable, reliable deployments
- Collaborating with data analysts, business stakeholders and cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and translate them into robust solutions
- Ensuring data quality, consistency and integrity across pipelines and systems
- Supporting CI/CD practices and infrastructure-as-code approaches using tools such as Terraform
- Contributing to the design and implementation of microservices and distributed systems that power data operations
- Troubleshooting data pipeline failures and performance issues to minimise impact on downstream consumers
Requirements
- Hands-on experience building and maintaining data pipelines, data infrastructure or similar systems
- Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Python, Java or equivalent
- Strong SQL knowledge and experience working with relational databases
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS or GCP) and cloud-native data services
- Experience with containerisation and orchestration tools such as Docker and Kubernetes
- Understanding of data quality principles and data requirements gathering
- Working knowledge of CI/CD practices and version control
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Software Engineering or related discipline
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders across technical and non-technical teams
Nice-to-have experience could include:
- Google Cloud Data Engineer certification or equivalent cloud certifications
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform
- Knowledge of microservices architecture and distributed systems
- Familiarity with ETL/ELT frameworks or data orchestration tools
- Experience with SAP systems or enterprise data environments
- Linux administration and scripting (Bash)
