Roles of this type sit within teams where security architecture influences how organisations defend against evolving threats while enabling digital innovation.What you would doTypical responsibilities could include:
- Designing and architecting secure solutions across cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP) and on-premises infrastructure
- Developing security frameworks and standards aligned with organisational needs and regulatory requirements
- Collaborating with engineering, infrastructure and development teams to integrate security into system design and CI/CD pipelines
- Evaluating and recommending security technologies and tools across network, application and data layers
- Conducting security assessments and threat modelling for distributed systems, microservices and APIs
- Supporting the implementation of security controls in containerised environments (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Mentoring team members on security best practices and architecture principles
- Contributing to the evolution of security posture across SAP, .NET, Java and Python-based systems, What roles of this type could offerMost roles of this type offer the following, dependent on the industry and seniority of the role:

Requirements
- Degree-level qualification in Computer Science or related field, with Master's degree preferred
- CISSP certification or equivalent recognised security credential
- Proven experience designing and implementing security architectures in cloud and hybrid environments
- Strong understanding of microservices, APIs, distributed systems and modern application architecture
- Hands-on experience with Azure, AWS or GCP security services and controls
- Knowledge of infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform) and containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and secure development practices
- Working knowledge of network security, including DMZ design and F5 load balancers
- Experience with both Windows and Linux environments
- Understanding of databases, data pipelines and data quality considerations
- Awareness of SAP security (S/4HANA, ECC, RISE) or enterprise application security
- Strong communication skills and experience working with stakeholders across technical and business functions
