Job description

We are looking for a forward-thinking Senior Business Change Manager to lead business change, continuous improvement and innovation activity on our Central Rail Systems Alliance joint venture.

This is an exciting opportunity to shape how teams work, improve operational performance and deliver meaningful efficiencies across safety, quality, time and cost.

This role is based in our Aston depot, Birmingham. What you'll be doing

  • Lead change initiatives, continuous improvement projects and product development activity that improves business practices, safety and environmental performance.
  • Identify, assess and implement innovative processes, methodologies, techniques and equipment to support national programme delivery.
  • Work with stakeholders to develop implementation plans for new ideas, ensuring changes are practical, compliant and aligned to business objectives.
  • Build effective relationships across depot, programme and executive teams to encourage adoption of continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Produce clear dashboards and updates that communicate progress, benefits, efficiencies and value delivered.
  • Develop business cases for improvement projects, demonstrating financial viability and measurable benefits.
  • Support research, best practice sharing and knowledge transfer across alliances, programmes and teams.
  • Use metrics and reporting to evidence the impact of continuous improvement and support informed decision-making.
  • Participate in safety programmes and promote a culture where improvement supports safe, efficient and high-quality delivery.

Requirements

Essential Skills and experience required:

  • Programme management and delivery qualification or equivalent experience, such as MSP, APM or Agile.
  • Experience implementing business change, continuous improvement and efficiency initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of business process analysis, operational analysis, benefits management and outcome-based delivery.
  • Experience developing requirements, specifications, user stories and practical solutions.
  • Knowledge of digital solution delivery, implementation, service transition and business process automation.
  • Experience using Microsoft Power Platform, including Power Apps, or similar digital tools to support process improvement.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation and influencing skills, with the ability to pitch ideas and lead workshops.
  • Strong appreciation of the business, product and data lifecycle.
  • Willingness to travel nationally on a regular basis.

Desirable skills and experience:

  • Experience delivering continuous improvement and innovation within the rail industry.
  • Understanding of information and data governance, master data management and metadata.
  • Experience developing reports and Power BI dashboards.
  • Understanding of BIM and the information lifecycle.
  • Experience with Signal or similar digital solutions for resource management, supply chain integration and business process automation.
