Job description
An Oklahoma telecommunications company is looking for a hands-on Sr Network Engineer and Network Engineer on a full-time basis to support their day-to-day operations of data and transport networks in a fast-paced environment. This role is ideal for a self-starter with strong troubleshooting skills, multi-vendor network experience, and the ability to work across Layer 1, 2, and 3 technologies. The ideal candidate will be comfortable resolving customer-impacting issues quickly, supporting network provisioning, and contributing to ongoing network performance and reliability. Position could be located in the Oklahoma City or Lawton, Oklahoma areas on a hybrid basis. Company offers a competitive benefits package., * Manage the daily operation of data and transport networks across Layer 1, 2, and 3
- Design, engineer, and provision network services including FTTH, Carrier Ethernet, and transport circuits
- Troubleshoot network issues, identify risk areas, and drive timely resolution to minimize customer impact
- Monitor and maintain network infrastructure and supporting systems
- Assist Tier 1 and Tier 2 teams with provisioning and troubleshooting efforts
- Maintain accurate network documentation including diagrams, procedures, change requests, and reporting
- Create Methods of Procedure (MOPs) for implementation and maintenance activities
- Analyze network performance, publish failure analysis, and recommend improvements
- Develop tools and scripts for testing, configuration, auditing, and network monitoring
- Evaluate and support implementation of new technologies and processes
- Participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in network planning and engineering within carrier-class environments
- 3+ years of experience designing, implementing, and optimizing LAN, WAN, transport, and optical networks
- Strong hands-on experience with TCP/IP, IPv4, and IPv6
- Experience with routing and switching protocols such as BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, MPLS, BFD, VLANs, STP/RSTP, VRRP/HSRP, LACP, SNMP, and G.8032/ERPS
- Working knowledge of Segment Routing (SR-MPLS) and EVPN-VXLAN
- Experience with Carrier Ethernet / MEF services including E-Line, E-LAN, E-Tree, and E-Access
- Optical and transport networking experience including DWDM/CWDM and packet-optical networks
- Ability to perform Layer 1-3 testing, including RFC 2544 and Y.1564
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills
- Ability to prioritize and adapt in a fast-changing environment
- Experience working with multiple vendors and technologies
