The Commercial Data Sciences & Data Insights team within Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine Business Technology organization is looking for an extraordinary scientist who is passionate about crafting, developing, and fielding data science and artificial intelligence solutions that drive impact for patients and for Johnson & Johnson. There are many ways to explore and analyze data, and this powers the excitement and passion of data scientists at J&J as many business units are eager to use the data to build business value.
You will be responsible for:
- Extract insights from pharmaceutical data and work with business stakeholders to implement model predictions in real-world deliverables.
- Identify appropriate use cases for data science initiatives and steer the creation, testing and support of models that deliver value through data-driven insights.
- Model creation, feature generation, data cleaning, and data exploration.
- Produce functionalized, reusable code for solutions across multiple brands.
- Partner closely with cross-functional teams, business partners, and vendors to deliver actionable solutions and to help shape data science strategy.
- Act as a trusted-advisor communicating complex technical findings to business partners and translating insights into actionable business recommendations.
- Stay on the cutting edge of Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, and Data Science.
Requirements
- Ph.D. or M.S. with 3+ years of industry experience in Data Science, Computer Sciences, Statistics, Machine Learning & Artificial Intelligence, or a related discipline.
- Strong working knowledge of machine learning and AI platforms/environments.
- Strong working knowledge of machine learning techniques such as regression, decision trees, probability networks, association rules, clustering, classification, forcasting, neural networks, and/or Bayesian models.
- Proficiency with Python and SQL.
- Proficient with source control platforms such as GitHub or BitBucket.
- Experience in the commercial pharmaceuticals business.
- Working knowledge of commercially available healthcare data sets (e.g. electronic medical records and medical / pharmacy insurance claims data).
- Experience working closely with business partners and vendors in a project management capacity.
- Experience delivering on data science projects using predictive technologies.
- You are passionate about new technical advances in Artificial Intelligence and are excited to apply them to solve problems.
- Ability to translate business needs into impactful data/technology use cases and products.
- Strong communication skills and ability to communicate complex methods and results to diverse audiences.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities, multiple stakeholders, matrixed teams, and evolving needs.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience implementing AI driven solutions
- Building end-to-end GenAI powered solutions that drive business value.
- Evaluation, validation, and refinement of LLM frameworks and generative AI applications.
- Continual learning, prompting, and LLM fine tuning.
- Familiarity with open-source and gated/paid model landscape., Electronic Health Records (EHR), Python (Programming Language), SQL Script, Vendor Partnerships

The anticipated base pay range for this position is $109,000 to $174,800 USD., Subject to the terms of their respective plans, employees and/or eligible dependents are eligible to participate in the following Company sponsored employee benefit programs: medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short- and long-term disability, business accident insurance, and group legal insurance. Subject to the terms of their respective plans, employees are eligible to participate in the Company's consolidated retirement plan (pension) and savings plan (401(k)). This position is eligible to participate in the Company's long-term incentive program.
