Job description
The Enterprise Systems Engineer (Virtualization) is responsible for the administration, support, maintenance, and optimization of the organization's enterprise virtualization infrastructure, including VMware, Nutanix, and Microsoft Hyper-V environments. This role ensures the availability, performance, security, and reliability of systems supporting clinical, business, and operational applications through hands-on management of day-to-day infrastructure operations, including monitoring, troubleshooting, patching, upgrades, capacity planning, disaster recovery, and lifecycle management. Working closely with server, storage, network, security, and application teams, the Enterprise Systems Engineer implements and supports infrastructure solutions, resolves complex technical issues, and contributes to enterprise technology initiatives while maintaining stable, scalable, and highly available production environments. This position requires a high degree of initiative, accountability, and independent judgment in the execution of assigned responsibilities. The incumbent is expected to work with minimal supervision, independently assess and resolve complex technical issues, evaluate alternatives, and make sound decisions that support operational and organizational objectives. This role requires effective prioritization of competing demands, strong time-management skills, and the ability to consistently deliver quality results while meeting established deadlines and service expectations.
Requirements
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, * Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering.
- 3+ years of experience administering enterprise virtualization platforms.
- Strong hands-on experience with VMware vSphere, ESXi, and vCenter, Nutanix AHV and Prism Central and Microsoft Hyper-V
- Experience with enterprise storage technologies like Pure, Netapp and SAN/NAS platforms.
- Experience supporting Windows Server and Linux operating systems.
- Knowledge of networking concepts including VLANs, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and load balancing.
- Experience with backup and disaster recovery technologies like CommVault and Veeam.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- Understands hospital business operations and structure, general requirements in an integrated delivery system, and use of IT applications in the practicing healthcare environment.
- Open to travelling up to 50% of the time., * VMware Certified Professional (VCP)
- Nutanix Certified Professional (NCP) or Nutanix Certified Expert (NCX)
- Microsoft Certified: Windows Server or Azure-related certifications
