Job description
The Senior Software Architect is a hands-on technical leader responsible for the architecture, design, development, and support of enterprise software and data solutions supporting warehouse operations and supply chain processes. This role serves as the technical authority for solution architecture, guiding engineering teams through the design and implementation of scalable, secure, and maintainable systems.
The Architect partners closely with product owners, business stakeholders, and development teams to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions. This individual remains actively involved in solution design, development, troubleshooting, code reviews, and architectural governance while helping development teams adopt best practices across the software development lifecycle., Design and architect enterprise software solutions supporting Warehouse Management System (WMS) capabilities, including inbound, outbound, inventory management, and warehouse automation. Create end-to-end technical designs for integrations between WMS platforms, ERP systems (SAP and others), automation technologies, and external trading partners through APIs and EDI. Partner with product owners and business stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions and architecture roadmaps. Provide technical leadership to development teams through architecture reviews, design sessions, code reviews, and best practice guidance. Lead the evaluation, selection, and implementation of software technologies, frameworks, and architectural patterns. Design and implement real-time and batch interfaces, data pipelines, and cloud-native integration solutions. Develop and enhance applications using Java, Spring Framework, APIs, and SQL-based technologies. Define and maintain architecture standards, design documentation, and integration specifications. Troubleshoot complex production issues and provide technical leadership for root cause analysis and resolution activities. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve system scalability, reliability, security, and performance. Analyze operational and application performance metrics and recommend architectural improvements. Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend solutions that align with business and technology strategies. Serve as a subject matter expert for warehouse technology, supply chain processes, system integrations, and cloud-based applications. Mentor developers and engineers on architecture standards, coding best practices, and solution design approaches.
Requirements
15+ years of experience designing, developing, and implementing enterprise software solutions. 5+ years of hands-on experience with: Java Spring Framework / Spring MVC SQL Server REST APIs / Web Services Git / GitHub SQL 3+ years of experience implementing, supporting, or developing Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), including platforms such as: Blue Yonder (JDA) Körber Manhattan HighJump Strong understanding of: Supply chain operations Distribution and warehouse processes Inventory management Warehouse automation technologies Experience designing integration architectures involving ERP platforms, WMS solutions, APIs, messaging, and EDI. Strong experience developing cloud-based solutions in Azure environments. Expertise in software architecture patterns including microservices, event-driven architecture, APIs, and distributed systems. Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving capabilities. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences. Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field.
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
Experience with: IBM WebSphere IBM MQ Drools Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) Experience supporting digital transformation and modernization initiatives. Experience in large-scale distribution, logistics, or supply-chain environments. Familiarity with cloud-native architecture, containerization, and CI/CD practices. Experience designing highly available, scalable enterprise systems.
