Job description
Senior Application / Solution Architect for a large enterprise transportation and logistics client. This individual will play a critical role in shaping and rebuilding the organization's application architecture practice. The ideal candidate brings deep hands on application development experience, strong architectural judgment, and the ability to influence teams and leadership without requiring ramp up time or hand holding. This role works closely with application and operational teams, leads architecture reviews, develops proofs of concept, and ensures that architectural decisions balance business needs, timelines, and technical best practices at an enterprise scale. - Act as a senior architecture leader, jumping in day one to handle heavy lifting (no ramp up or training role)
- Partner closely with application development teams to guide design and implementation
- Conduct architecture reviews and present designs to technical review committees and leadership
- Define and enforce architecture governance, patterns, and standards
- Support and approve pre approved architectural patterns for faster delivery
- Build and present POCs to demonstrate value of tools or platforms to leadership
- Collaborate on rebuilding and shaping the architecture function and role definition
- Provide targeted training and guidance to application teams when needed
- Ensure the right tool is used for the right job, avoiding unnecessary or unsupported technologies
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience as an Architect working with Modern Java Projects (Microservices Architecture, API's, Containerization Technologies)
- 10+ years of IT Java application development ( Version 17.0-21.0) using spring
- Understand what containerization is and how they work with applications (Kubernetes or Open-Shift experience)
- Understands Horizontal & Vertical Scaling and how it impacts application performance
- Excellent communications skills with the ability to tailor messaging to technical and non-technical audiences
- Ability to translate business requirements into practical architecture decisions
- Experience making real work tradeoff decisions (time, cost, resources, vs. needing Architectural purity)
- Ability to apply architecture patterns
- Close to the work and willing to be hands-on, * Open-shift
